it always feels like a special day when there’s a new razrbark mix hitting the web, like a rare delicious sweet treat being gifted to us all. i’m not sure when i first discovered razrbark, perhaps a few years ago as it feels like we’ve been connected online forever (but who can keep track of time these days?), however, the day that i did was like unearthing a hidden gem. based in new york, razrbark has an approach to djing that comes from years of dedication to the dancefloor & being raver first and foremost. there’s a heat to her mixes that come from the warm glow of the tracks that she selects, the sludgy pace that allows you to practice patience and savour every bite, absorbing the mystical kinetic energy that is channeled through every record. from her contributions to ccl’s subglow, down2earth and distant signals mix series, the esoteric the lot radio sessions to the live recordings from iconic gigs such as the much-loved honcho campout and sorry records at bossa nova civic club, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into. 

another contribution to the world of razrbark, her 909 mix starts of humid with a chugging energy that comes with tracks slowed all the way down before flowing into an otherworldly selection of dreamy, acidic techno, creating a light respite from the steamy intro before ending on a grungy note. you can hear the references from one of razrbark’s key influences, buffy the vampire slayer. if the bronze booked djs, this is what they would play.
