This piece is a product of a few recorded tracks and lots of synths playing live via MIDI, all at the same time; which is a bit out usual for me.

I also turned a few knobs while it was being live recorded, which also adds a bit to the the whole blend of things.

I am so glad that making music has maintained our friendship and kept us together. Some people maintain friendships through going out to eat, watching sporting events, doing family things together, etc. I make music with my friends. 

Thanks to Russ and Jon for being my musical friends as well. Jon is so awesome, I can say, let's try making a late 60’s psychedelic cumbia inspired track, and he can then say, sure! And Russ is always down for the ride, thanks for taking over the wheel while we trip on some shrooms, lol!

On my first trip to Paris, I visited Père-Lachaise Cemetery, excited to meet Édith Piaf, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde. But before seeing my heroes, I came across a mysterious statue, one I can finally recognize as of Euterpe, muse of music. It was the tomb of Fréderic Chopin. I wish I had know more about him back then, so I could leave flowers on his grave. Also, it's curious how, of all the people in that cemetery, he's the one I now could relate the most. A fellow composer, not that fond of the stage, but still longing to be heard.

For this piece, I want to share an inspiring poem by Mark Strand.


It shines in the garden,
in the white foliage of the chestnut tree, 
in the brim of my father's hat
as he walks on the gravel.

In the garden suspended in time 
my mother sits in a redwood chair: 
light fills the sky, the folds of her dress,
the roses tangled beside her.

And when my father bends
to whisper in her ear,
when they rise to leave
and the swallows dart
and the moon and stars
have drifted off together, it shines.

Even as you lean over this page, 
late and alone, it shines: even now 
in the moment before it disappears.
