[AFUS02] UNSEEN SERIES II [2021]

After rare apparitions on compilations, sound designer Victor Morello aka @zerocrossingpoint brings to light his very first full length release. "Iteration of the Self" gathers 8 tracks created on a 4 years interval and based on countless reworks and adjustments, mirroring a dense period of self transformation for the producer. Inspired by Ambient, Musique Concrete, Film Score, Club and Metal, Zero Crossing Point delivers a stunning piece of hybrid electronics, sometimes extreme, sometimes uplifting and cinematic.

Use and abuse of home made synthesised sounds and personal field recordings create an uncommon universe in which reverb, granular synthesis, distortion and resonators pave the way for an astonishing sense of narration. Drawing inspiration from nature observations, bizarre movies, books and video games, the Grenoble-based producer built a wonderful piece transcribing strong unsayable emotions and exploring the concept of iteration.

2019 AD. The Arctic Circle and the Amazon are on fire, fascism is on the rise again, the gap between the richest and the poorest is still widening. New anxieties need to be addressed.

Crux Axul has invited seven musicians to write and record a piece of music motivated by the way they perceive the world changing around them at a seemingly ever-increasing pace.

From Silicone’s flickering exercise in melodic modular experimentation, to YS’ contemporary take on Musique Concrète, to Shannon Soundquist’s longform drone meditation, New Anxieties offers seven takes on a world in turmoil that are each as unique as they are coherent as a whole.

Following their last  "Thirst Ep" released on Instrument of Discipline in 2019, the duo Diasiva (Monolog and Swarm Intelligence) returns with a five tracks work on the Berlin Imprint Arboretum.

While addressing the environmental issue of the human impact on natural ecosystems, Microplastic Ep seems to embark upon a journey of deconstruction of Techno, IDM and Bass Music towards futuristic paradigms. 


Here, gritty broken-beats, wisely mixed with titanic basslines, an ominous dystopic temper seems to simulate the contemporary unrelenting strain, fading at time either into kaleidoscopic-visionary synthlines archetypes or cinematic rarefied epilogues for a comforting utopia.
