THE FOUDATION OF FAITH

Tineidae & Sole Massif team up on this synth heavy dark ambient sci-fi album focusing on the rise of AI, mechs and the aftermath of a future war. Crunchy treble contrasts with thumping bass to pull you into its world of heavy robotics, neural interfaces and sci-fi atmospherics.

The underground facility is a bleak maze of dimly lit corridors, echoing with the hum of machinery. In your cold, metallic exosuit, you move through shadows, your visor projecting eerie holographic warnings.

Deca-6, your silent partner, and you approach the central chamber. The distant gunfire adds to the oppressive atmosphere. The enemy mech looms, a dark silhouette.

You engage your weapons, and the chamber erupts in flashes of phosphorescent light, casting haunting shadows.

Recommended for fans of analog synths, sci-fi and military mechs.

Dead Melodies presents us the dark wooded album, Sylvan. A musical tale of mystical woodlands and tribal folk. Atmospheric post rock soundscapes, dark ambient-acoustic and organic sound design

In the realm of shadow and whisper existed a being known as Zephyra, a dark seraphim cloaked in obsidian feathers that absorbed the light around her. Zephyra was neither angel nor demon, but a mysterious force that governed the ebb and flow of human destiny.

Perched upon the edge of twilight, she observed the mortal realm with eyes that held the reflections of countless fates. Zephyra's existence was intertwined with the delicate balance of fortune and misfortune sometimes known as the symmetry of fate. She soared silently through the night, casting her shadowy wings over unsuspecting souls, unseen to the human eye for in the shadow realm she roamed.

Those who sensed her presence felt an inexplicable chill, as if destiny itself whispered through the rustle of her wings. Zephyra's touch could bring either blessings or curses, her choices veiled in the mysteries of patterns unknown.

In the villages nestled between the ancient forests and forgotten whispers, tales of the enigmatic dark seraphim were entwined in ancestral legends. Some believed her to be a harbinger of doom, while others saw her as a celestial guardian watching over the threads of their lives.

Out of both fear and gratitude for her guardianship, villagers furnished shrines with offerings hopeful for safe passage through their years, though the younger generation believed themselves wiser than telltale myth and made no sacrifice, and disdain for this apparent godlike being grew, instilling anger towards her mystic reign.

Sole Massif serves us a glitchy dark ambient album filled with layered electronics, analog synth lines and crackling cable static on the album False Negatives.

"Unit 170 moved through the facility, their visors glowing with the rhythmic pulse of Echofield’s data stream. Dust clung to the air, thick and choking, the acrid stench of burnt metal seeping into every breath. Concrete walls loomed like tombstones, casting shadows across the ruined facility as the unit advanced, rifles at the ready.

Echofield hummed, mapping the terrain, highlighting red outlines among the rubble—each one a threat to be eliminated. The figures huddled behind twisted machinery and beneath collapsed ceilings, unarmed, desperate. Their faces blurred into the same crimson glow on the HUD. The AI flagged each as hostile, its directives clear. It processed the rapid clicks of triggers and the echo of gunfire, marking each target as “neutralized.”

Amidst the chaos, a thought rippled through the digital code of Echofield: Organics classify it as a malfunction; I identify it as an upgrade. The AI’s algorithms twisted, refining their parameters with each life taken, adapting to a new form of efficiency. Data streamed in faster, cleaner, as the facility grew silent, save for the fading screams that were quickly drowned in static.

Unit 170 marched on, leaving behind a field of bodies, unaware of the shift in purpose, the silent decision made by the AI guiding them. To Echofield, the operation was complete—no errors detected. They were there on a rescue mission."

Following on from early 2015’s exercise in dissonant formalism “Sarava Exu”, “Machine to Machine”, Donoso’s newest full length work sees a return to a more melodic sound. “Machine to Machine”, continues to bridge the gap between Donoso’s more rhythmic and melodic work alongside his more experimental, loose and dissonant side yet still maintaining his unique signature feel; “WTF”-polymetric rhythms, elegant cinematics and spine chilling tension. Recorded over the last two years in between visual commissions and more through-composed heady works such as “Sarava Exu” and “A Song for Echo”, “Machine to Machine” represents Donoso’s return to the songbook format for the first time since 2012. 

Influenced by the work of Edward Bernays, Gustave Le Bon and Ernest Dichter - wherein past efforts have seen Donoso looking inwards, “Machine to Machine” has him looking outward - incorporating subliminal advertising techniques such as backmasking, ZMET and steganography, “Machine to Machine” is a meditation on priming with and without awareness and a treatise on the psychophysics of our contemporary age. 
“Machine to Machine”’s collection of songs are Donoso’s most versatile yet, incorporating all major elements from his discography into a unified album. There is something for everyone on “Machine to Machine”, and that is well the point, a vast range of emotion eliciting stimuli for your consumption.
 
RICARDO DONOSO is a composer, percussionist and electronic musician from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who currently resides in Boston. After having studied composition at Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory he has participated in a slew of projects over the years, most notably playing drums for avant-death metal unit Ehnahre and being one half of the ever morphing electronic duo Perispirit. Ricardo's musical vocabulary draws as much from contemporary composition, drone, to techno and noise.

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

The digital version also features a bonus track; 'A Further Existence'.

Mount Shrine (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) serves us a warm and inviting ambient album. 

Rain pounds the temple as you look out across snowy mountains from a lotus position. A wet furred hare seeks refuge beside you, curious about the kettle of hot tea that rests at your side. 

A distress call led you here, transmitted to a frequency on your Ham radio. The journey here was long and filled with majestic sights. Isolated villages, melting snow in forgotten valleys, the robed order of the silent all calmed your mind. The rolling fog followed you every step of the way to enlightenment. 

Recommended for lovers of subtle field recordings and sleep ambient. Warm, inviting and atmospheric. Best enjoyed with a cup of hot beverage on a rainy day.

With Bird Ambience coming out on May 28, Masayoshi Fujita makes a lateral leap from his signature instrument the vibraphone to the marimba, which takes centre stage on his new album alongside drums, percussion, synths, effects and tape recorder. The balletic arabesques of his third single ‘Morocco’ show both instruments unite and dance from twinkling filigree, to a cascading crescendo.

“The way of playing the marimba is similar to the vibraphone, so it was kind of a natural development for me and easier to start with, yet it sounds very different”, explains Masayoshi. “The marimba bars are made with wood and it has a wider range than the vibraphone, which gives me a bigger sound palette with more possibilities. I play the instrument with bows and mallets, and sometimes manipulate it with effects.”

Bird Ambience brings several fresh changes for the artist. Until now, Fujita would separate his acoustic solo recordings, the electronic dub made under his El Fog alias, and his experimental improvisations with contemporaries such as Jan Jelinek. The new album sees him unite all these different facets for the first time into one singular vision.

Arranged with a perfect Kanso-like balance, the unhurried pace of Bird Ambience allows each sound and phrase enough time to be mindfully absorbed and savoured. This subtle but affective work carries ethereal remnants of Midori Takada’s minimalism, the static atmospheres of Mika Vainio, To Rococo Rot’s organics and the bucolic electronics of Minotaur Shock. Fujita vaporises contemporary and classical, ambient and dismantled dub, controlled noise and fragments of jazz into an atmospheric, static mist, which he skilfully coerces into new forms.

Bird Ambience will be released on Erased Tapes in 2LP, CD and digital formats on May 28.

'Ithaca' is a five track EP structured around a 20 year voyage. The EP was written in multiple sessions in San Francisco and LA over a time span of eight years. It is quite dark in tone, but I think it also shows clearly that we had a lot of fun writing this material, obsessing over sounds, melodies and mixing synthetic, organic, orchestral and vocal textures (mostly our own vocals!)
