„Amygdala“ is Koze’s Sgt. Pepper. It’s an unreal 78-minute walk through Koze’s mind, complete with moods, intensities, sounds and scenes as yet unheard of. It feels more like a double album, urging you to turn over and change the records time and time again. "Amygdala" amazes by its sheer musicality, deepness, and its  ethereal sound design; it’s a kaleidoscope of a great variety of soundscapes where you keep discovering new nuances even after listening to it a thousand times. Nobody else could unite artists like Caribou and Dirk von Lotzow, Hildegard Knef and Mathew Dear, Ada and Milosh in such an organic way and on one and the same record as Koze did. There’s never been anything like it.

He weaves new garments around the a capella parts of his guests, garments that only he can tailor, and that’s how the album, for all the diversity of its artists, sounds consistently homogeneous and in the true style of Kosi Kos. It’s all about “the courage to dare”, about letting voices resonate undisguised in all their authentic peculiarity.  About creating  truthfulness.

How much can you cut out, when does the flame die down? On the other hand, under which circumstances could it even burn for ever?

The album, which in large parts has been composed in a Spanish fishing village, starts off with Balinese gamelan sounds from which a relaxed discoid bass peels off, caressed by mystic backwards basslines, balafon resonances and slide guitar chords. You can hear the ceaseless chirping, twittering and cheeping from all the treetops of Koze's exotic jungle.

Following acclaimed excursions on Hypercolour (‘Needs You EP’) and Will Saul’s Aus Music (‘Child EP’) last year, George FitzGerald is preparing to make his return to his Hotflush home for the first time since 2011. Premiering in FitzGerald’s debut Radio 1 Essential Mix last month as part of the ‘2013’s Future Stars’ series, ‘Thinking Of You’ is scheduled to drop as a Beaport exclusive on 18th March, with full physical release and accompanying tracks to follow in May.
 
Having displayed his innate understanding of how to craft a musical narrative with the Essential Mix, ‘Thinking Of You’ turns to the darker realms of the dance floor imbued with the same kind of precision-tooled grooves, nuanced melodic touch and emotive shades that have garnered him such praise in the past.
 
The last twelve months have been extremely busy for FitzGerald as he continues to capture the attention of industry heads and fans alike with his refined and emotive homegrown club music. With what looks like a summer heatwave on the horizon, it seems right to call on dirtybird’s European extension to deliver a sun-drenched dance floor stormer to see in the new season. The two track ‘Love’ EP sees Catz ‘n Dogz join forces with the ever-innovative KiNK, a pairing that has proved striking in the past year after KiNK’s beautiful ‘Follow The Step’ release on the Polish duo’s label, Pets Recordings.

‘Good Love’ packs an instant punch as a hefty house bass line bangs with all the filth you’d expect from the dirtybird associates. KiNK infuses his innate sense of liveness into the production, particularly felt in the drum work which smacks, crunches and kicks with a crispness that is hard to imitate. The effect-loaded vocal loop is what gives ‘Good Love’ its hedonistic, midsummer flavor, driving the track straight to set climax selection territory for anyone with a penchant for the deep and dirty. The ‘Bad Love’ mix falls into techier territory, as the distorted beat fizzes and crackles with a masterful touch of vitality. Just as heavy and arresting as the A side, this is the sort of bad love that feels too good to decline.

Characteristically classy, with a generous helping of bass, expect this Catz 'n Dogz and KiNK collaboration to be working out dance floors for the foreseeable future.
