Over the years, Flexi have gained both the respect and recognition of the music scene, earned by almost forty years of experience in the world of music and with the support of many DJs, artists and fans.

Finally Flexi Cuts returns with a brand new release pressed on a “raw transparent" vinyl called “Velvet Series” no 2 – six quality tracks from six superb artists for an electronic journey that makes you fly over “velvet”.
Selection of the works wasn't easy; the tracks were chosen tryin' to maintain a high quality level, such as the oldest (v. series part 1) which have been so appreciated out there.

The A side opening is by Bologna-based Brine, with “YR Body” that provides a Juno-ish bassline with a catchy vocal and a jazzy mood.
Then we have “Benerice" from Daughters and Sons (aka the master Luca Fronza) who throws us into a beautiful Detroit-inspired analog jam.
This side ends with our very own Sicily man Manuold with fresh Italo-House vibes absolutely made for the dance floor.

On the B side, welcome back the veterans Tengrams (formerly the Piatto brothers from N.O.I.A Records) with the outstanding "Rapid Eye Movement"… travelling across retro-future influences and 808 patterns… under a dystopian-sci-fi movie theme.
B2 track is by the Calma duo who plays with a few elements to build a neverending techno climax...did you recognise the sample?
The last track is a sort of relaxing downtempo sunset closure complete with bells, from the California producer Gloved Hands, a name that speaks for itself.

For the last few months time seemed to stand still. Routine shaped her life now; every day was the same, from the moment she opened her eyes to the moment she finally rested her head on her pillow. It had begun to feel normal, as if this were all that was expected of her existence on this planet. Perhaps she preferred this life; cocooned from the pressures of the outside world.

The brainchild of DJ and Headroom co-founder Jessica, Lapse Records enters the world with a split EP from DJ Gonzo & Dr. Yes and Sasha Zlykh. The former pairing, known for their solo outputs as Klein and Melcher, respectively, take care of the A-Side with a playful techy cut and a spooky, hypnotic groover, while on the flip Sasha Zlykh takes the reins with two tripped out collabs alongside pals Troy and Trippsy.

He awoke in the dead of night, panting, sweat pouring profusely from his brow. He was shaken and unaware of his surroundings; he couldn't get a handle on what was reality. Shadows seemed to dance across the walls in strange shapes and the winds outside spoke to him in a whispered tones — were his nightmares making their way into physical existence?

Zurich-based producer Walid is one of the minds behind Les Points who, along with its sub-labels Infoline and Gentrified Undeground, have released a healthy catalogue of electro, wave and industrial-laced trips, coming from artists like Savage Grounds, Cygnus and Neu Verboten. In keeping with these musical flavours, Walid has been cooking up his own 80s-indebted sonics under the guise of Child Of The Waves, which are finding a home on Belgian imprint Basic Moves. Consisting of seven tracks, the release uses cinematic samples, rumbling bass lines, icy synths and haunting FX to craft a journey that could soundtrack an 80s thriller.

Jensen Interceptor and Assembler Code drop their collaborative ‘Hyper Reality’ EP on Cultivated Electronics next week (23rd April).

The two producers have proved to be amongst the most exciting to surface as part of the recent return of electro. In the last few years Jensen Interceptor’s reputation has rocketed, with releases through Boys Noize and Sheffield’s Central Processing Unit (CPU), whilst together the pair are responsible for rollicking tracks like ‘Drum Rack’ – something that’s been on office rotation at DJ Mag since it dropped in February.

Cultivated Electronics label-boss Sync 24 subsequently tapped Jensen Interceptor and Assembler Code for the ‘Hyper Reality’ EP, made up of four tracks of dark, driving electro. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of his remix of the title track above.

With Cultivated Electronics, Sync 24 has been responsible for helping push UK electro back to the fore with a string of releases from artists including Morphology, Silicon Scally and The Resonance Committee.

Speaking about his rework of ‘Hyper Reality’, Sync 24 told DJ Mag, “I went for a tight staccato robotic vibe on this one with some bubbly acid and drive for the dancefloor. I’m super happy to have these guys on the label!”

“Saved My Life“ is a joint project led by label bosses Micky (The Healing Company) and Hermann (Tieffrequent)@the-healing-company

Micky Explains:

"He sent me a couple of demos a few years ago, I loved his music and immediately decided to release a twelve inch on the Healing Company. For that reason, we met afterwards several times in Berlin and became close friends. We found out quickly that we are kind of “soulmates”, made for each other, sharing the same sense of humor, politics, philosophy – and of course the same love for music. Even if we are both releasing mostly contemporary house music on our respective labels, our deepest love is for soulful music from the old days. We are fascinated by the lovely vibes of the past, this special touch of melancholia, emotion, deepness and playfulness that is difficult to put it into words – it is something you can feel much better when listening.

One day we had the idea to do some edits of long forgotten tunes we love. After a couple of studio sessions, the result was our first release, “A Piano Saved My Life“ with four piano-driven edits out of Jazz Funk, Italo Disco and some Balearic vibes. We released it as a small vinyl edition on my new sub-label “Piano Music“ and we got very surprised by the warm and positive feedback the EP had worldwide.

Instead of just playing the compactos from beginning to end we tried another approach: avoiding fade ins and outs and doing a mix with a constant flow and vibe. This proved at the end much trickier as we originally thought, since one of the most charming aspects of old Brazilian music is also that you have very well produced commercial albums on the one hand and independent lo-fi recordings on the other hand – but just as good and worth to listen and play! 
After digging in our collections and choosing around 80 records, we reduced the selection to fit into a 90 minutes mix, creating a journey that spans some of Brazil’s most popular music genres: from classic Bossa Nova to MPB, Samba Soul, Samba Rock, Boogie, Disco, Forro, Tropicalia and Psychedelia, from 60 bpm to 140 bpm. Our selection is not dogmatic or academic, we are not presenting a certain time period, style or region – we even take a detour to Italy and France during the mix. What we want to present are records and music that are touching us emotionally, with their delightful vibes from the past, including songs from the early 70s to the early 90s, some well known and highly appreciated, some more obscure or completely unknown, some from reputable artists, some from “one-hit wonders “, who disappeared in the depths of time.

Metamorphic is happy to announce a new artist to the label family! MirrorTouch is a new project from London-based producer Tim Van Zandyke. The sound of Mirror Touch can best be described by a moment in time when mid 90's trax records from the US Midwest combined techno's brutalist grooves with layers of emotive harmonies harking back to Detroit's funk, soul and jazz legacy. Then techno sound hurtled forward, blazing new paths of experimentation, minimalism and hypnosis.
