We are pleased to welcome our great friend and colleague Focus Puller aka Mike Healey back to Cubism with an outstanding new piece of music, Nørrebro.

Focus Puller's history runs in tandem with Cubism having DJed at almost every single party for the label alongside Cubism bosses Mark Gwinnett and Saytek from fabric to saʊnd and having featured on the label since it's inception way back in 2007.

This track is a pure, raw Focus Puller vibe with perfectly crafted industrial percussion riding a rich low slung groove that captivates and delights with it's hypnotic progression. 

Mark Gwinnett aka Lunacy Sound Division steps up for his first release of the year providing a driving, relentless heads down remix that doesn't let up till the final beat but retains much of the atmosphere created by Mike's original. Superb dance floor business.

Cubism 5X3 - Volume 1

WE are pleased to present to you the next release on Cubism which is from our very own Saytek who returns to his home label for his second release on Cubism of 2023 with the 303 Day Jams EP.

303 Jams EP contains 3 tracks which were jammed and recorded live on 3rd March this year on a real Roland TB 303 alongside Saytek's live set up for Readipop, a local music charity in his home town of Reading in the UK. The live video from the event, as is typical with video recordings of Saytek jamming live, went viral and received hundreds of thousands of views on facebook alone.

We hope you enjoy Saytek's 303 Day Jams EP and we would like to take the opportunity to wish him a happy anniversary 2023 marks 20 years since Saytek first performed live.

We are delighted to announce the return of Focus Puller with this striking and original EP.
Over the years, long-term Cubism collaborator Mike Healey has built a reputation among serious tastemakers for consistently delivering tracks that have an intriguing and unusual quality. Loosely defined as somewhere between Tech House and Deep Techno, Healey's compositions have a musicality and emotive edge that mean his tracks have dance-floor appeal and home-listening pleasure in equal measure.

From early DJ magazine reviews that described Healey as ‘One to Watch’, Record of the Week on Fergie’s Radio 1 show, and a few Essential Mix plays for good measure, to more recent excursions at the much admired Fabric London, we arrive at Healey’s Focus Puller alias, and proof that his own unique style continues to evolve in blissful ignorance of current trends.

The title track, combining a relentless, analog Bass hook with subtle chimes and interference, explores what we might hear if some unknown alien race responded to SETI deep-space transmissions. The result is an emotive, thought-provoking track that has ample grit and groove for the dance floor. 

‘Feed the Pony’ is an early-set chugger that combines a solid groove with a constantly evolving scape of builds and drops. A tried and tested tool that has earned the approval of the hardiest of taste-seekers at Fabric. 

‘Me Time’ really showcases Healey’s arrangement skills. Succulant, broken percussive sounds drive a tough kick and a liquid bassline towards a midsection that evokes memories of early Depeche Mode. A beautiful excursion that rounds off this diverse EP in fine style.

As 2011 draws to a close we are pleased to present the annual compilation from Cubism Records, Cubists Volume 4. It's been a great year for the imprint with all of the releases being supported by a very diverse range of leading artists and the label continuing it's successful residency at Source in Maidstone, with regular appearances at Cargo in London with label partner Saytek plus numerous dates across the country touring his acclaimed 'Reworked' album. We are looking forward to starting 2011 as we mean to go on hosting Room 3 at Fabric, London with Terry Francis and Saytek on January 7th and dates already booked for a return to Cargo, London and also the continuing residency at Source.

As is custom with this annual Cubists series, the album features a number of tracks that have rocked floors during the course of 2011 like Lunacy Sound Division's classic 'Night Bazaar', Saytek's 'Gosia's Groove' and Ryan Thompson & James Dutton's 'The Secret'. However, the album this year heavily features unreleased exclusive material from artists that will be working with the label in 2012 with brand new exclusive tracks from Freaky Disco, JP Chronic, Ryan Thompson, Nathan Rivers, Oliver Knight & Hugo Jones. It also features Cubism resident DJ Paul Johnson's debut track 'Goose Juice' and an exclusive collaboration between Cubism partners Mark Gwinnett (Lunacy Sound Division) and Saytek with 'The Seven'.

Tony Thomas returns to Cubism Records with believe it or not only his second original release on the label! Hard to believe it's been 5 years and 60 releases since Double-T launched the label back in 2007. It's been worth the wait however. "F**k You" is a relentless bass heavy groove which twists and turns in all the right places and is guaranteed to set the dance floor alight. The pitched down vocal sample in the track is taken from the album "Visions" by Dub Vampires feat Selene De Coudray courteousy of Molaman Records. The second track here "True" is another killer but this time with some heavy tribal percussion, something Tony does extremely well.

Remixes here come from firstly Nathan Coles & David Coker who provide a deep and funky tech house rework of F**k You using the vocals as they were intended. The second remix comes from new kid on the block Sauerbache who we discovered recently lurking in the dark and they provide a more stripped back version of True.

Cubism returns with a stunning release from a good friend of the label, Tom Finn. Tom first appeared on Cubism a few years ago with 'Just A Groove', his collaboration with one of the leading lights from the new wave of Detroit artists, Dantiez Saunderson. He followed this with an excellent remix of Lunacy Sound Division's track 'More Than Enough'. It's exciting to have him back on the label with the impeccable R U Awake?

R U Awake? weaves a delicious and intoxicating groove. With spoken vocals and a smattering of low slung, electronic deepness throughout, the track was made deep into lockdown and the creative spell that gave birth to it has already yielded future music for Cubism as Tom prepares to release a collaboration with Lunacy Sound Division later this year and some exciting things in the pipeline with Saytek.

The first remix is from Cubism's very own Mark Gwinnett under his Lunacy Sound Division alias. The vibe is stripped right back to a no nonsense hypnotic beat, driven forward with urgency by ethereal soundscapes and pads that combine with the funky rolling baseline from the original version. The vocal hook and vague recollections musing over the groove throughout seem appropriate after the last months we have all experienced. It's topped off by what we like to call an explosive porno synth which sends the track soaring into hyperspace.

On the second remix we have the awesome Bedford Falls Players with a special heavy hitter taking the vibe into darker territory. Bedford Falls Players are a collective of DJS and Producers originating from the Berkshire and West London area; founding member, Mark Cooper from Windsor has collaborated with Legends of the scene such as Terry Farley (Boy’s Own/Faith), Al MacKenzie (D:Ream/Field Of Dreams), Justin Drake (Peace Division) amongst others with many prestigious remixes from the like of Ashley Beedle, Duncan Gray, Leo Zero etc. Lately Mark has been working on new material and is thrilled to be working on this release with fellow local radio buddy, Tom Finn.
