This is Part 2 of my Mystery of the Motherbeat series of DJ mixes. I’ve wanted to record this mix for a long time as a follow-up to my 2018 mix by the same name. Both are a fusion of styles used to build a psychedelic hypnotic soundscape for deep listening and personal synchronization with the heart of Motherbeat. No big hands in the air moments to speak of here, just deep mixing and some of the most beautiful records in my collection. Agua con gas’ playful and seductive sets take you on a groovy and steamy journey on the dancefloor. The Berlin-based artist draws his inspiration from the sounds of the '90s trance, house, tribal rhythms and electro. Although he doesn’t stick to one genre, he is mastering the storytelling from beginning to end with consistency and flow.

Agua’s passion for electronic music first sparked when he began to collect records in 2018. He’s shown the depth of his versatile taste with mixes for shows at community radios like THF Radio, Mutant Radio Tbilisi, Radio80k, Root Radio and Refuge Worldwide. Over the past few years, you could find him playing at various clubs in Berlin, other cities in Germany, Switzerland and recently debuting in South Africa at the Smalltown Beat Festival.

This one’s dedicated to all the lovers! 🥰 After having the best time playing at their party last year Cuddles asked if I would do a mix for their series. At the time I didn’t really have any ideas for a mix and I didn’t want to just churn out another general club promo mix but I’ve always wanted to do some kind of Valentine’s themed mix and it seemed like it would fit pretty well with the idea of the party. Rather than just doing a mix slow jams or whatever I wanted to try and keep the mix quite uptempo and I like a challenge so I decided I would only include tracks that had the word ‘love’ in the title. So here it is, one hour of euphoric house-ish ruminations on love! 😘❤️

Their record label come party series has become a UK powerhouse releasing some of the best club music out there with a playful sense of self and dancefloor debauchery to boot.

As a duo they mix a broad assortment of house, disco, funk and beyond – blurring the lines between genres but always managing to maintain the soul and energy of a good party. Nothing too serious, nothing too dark.


 
At a time when the world ain’t so happy – they channel the feel good elements of a genre which can often take itself far too seriously and we can safely say that we’re here for it.

This mix demonstrates why they are two of the most fun in the booth at the moment as they whiz through a heady assortment of House, Disco, Italo, Balearic and beyond.

Jennifer Loveless steps up to the Phonica mix with a charged hour of sculpted house — poised between deep groove and melodic resonance. 
Born in Toronto and musically forged in Melbourne, she relocated to Australia in 2012 and quickly became a central figure in the country's underground electronic scene. Now based in Berlin, her fluid DJ style — steeped in queer dancefloor energy and late-night catharsis — has lit up some of the world’s most respected booths, from Panorama Bar and De School to Body Movements, Maricas/Mxricas, and Boiler Room’s Discwoman showcase in Sydney.
As a producer, her discography speaks in rhythms both personal and expansive. The debut Hard/Soft (Pure Space, 2020) blended meditative percussion and fragmented spoken word; 1.5m (Planet Euphorique) offered a pandemic-era pulse of emotional urgency. In 2021, the Water EP (Butter Sessions) landed with immersive, club-primed textures and was hailed by Resident Advisor as “career-defining.” Its 2022 follow-up Around the World expanded that sound with driving drums and psychedelic tones — its standout tracks appearing in DJ sets by Jayda G, D. Tiffany, and more.
Loveless’s mix here flows like her best sets: deep, intuitive, and full of movement. Sensual grooves fold into one another — not showy, just sharp. A warm, high-fidelity hour from a DJ who knows how to guide the floor from dusk to afterglow. We had a brief chat with Jennifer about the mix and what she has coming up:
