Establishing herself as a mainstay in Melbourne’s thriving dance community, Millú is our first honorary guest of the mix series this decade. Having caught the eye though recent sets, it's clear that Millú's style and taste are derived from a broad and diverse range of influences - adding a distinct richness to her multifaceted sets.

Luckily for us (and you), this just-under an hour mixtape is essentially a digital encapsulation of the aforementioned. Starting off on a steady yet leftfield tip, Millú gradually builds momentum and gravitates towards pure dance-floor energy.

Passing Notes welcomes its second virtual guest, Gallery B. Gallery B aka Emma Stevenson is the kind of artist that can craft a set for every possible occasion - something that I’ve been admiring through delving into her vast back catalogue of inspiring mixes.  Such versatility only comes to the deepest of diggers, those that consider music and sound in all its forms. Emma’s deep appreciation for music and sound has also found her stepping away from the booth and into the studio, recently launching her moniker Gallery B, which encompasses her exquisite contemporary ambient project. 

Her debut tape release “Omni Era” on Divisions is simply mesmerising. Stunning layers of texture created through hardware, sampling and field recordings. Trance-like ambience for contemplation, reflection, dreaming. Anyone to hear this could mistake this for years experience - I eagerly await her ‘Dream Machine’ performance at Inner Varnika 2021 as well as what’s to come for Gallery B. 

Here, Gallery B presents an off the cuff mix of UK downtempo and ambient techno, the perfect beginning to any Passing Notes episode.

Much like those tasty droplets that spray your face when you have to open a bottle of vino with a wooden spoon (don't ask,) this week we present another mid-week wake up from Wines of While. It's @colbaba, recorded live at Comfort Zone.

Treating all of us to an extra special all vinyl workout as the sun set on a Sunday, Col embraces the easy going musical vibe with a aplomb. Worldly beat science, squiggly synthesisers straight fromspace and pads smoother than an aged tempranillo are all on display over the course of this wonderful hour. It's a bright orange cruise down West Coast Highway in a floating car with the wind hitting just right.

Whack the Tape on and be whisked away, it's more of a listening experience than 'just a mixtape,' maybe keep things real and tune in during literal (or figurative) sunset . Spaghetti arrabbiata and lightly chilled glass of whatever is our suggestion - don't forget to get up and have a groove as well.
