Family, Fish, Shapes. These are only three of the many topics that Stefan Streck aka The Micronaut recently devoted himself to within his releases on labels such as Acker Records or Analogsoul. Always with a clear line, but never intellectualising, is how the multi-instrumentalist and producer pursues his scientific curiosity in terms of sounds. His tracks are elaborate and yet danceable. Sometimes they are composed minimally, sometimes they are utterly playful. Within just a few bars, subtle sequences transform to energetic roller coaster rides since The Micronaut loves having a game with contrasts. His newest EP on Freude am Tanzen proves this anew.
The EP contains four tracks full of references to the past in view of the future. Indeed, the samples and sounds of the British “summers of love“ echo strongly until today, however, they sound much more like a reinvention instead of a revival in the case of The Micronaut. Since his music doesn’t shy away from big gestures, but virtually seeks them out – and discovers them where melancholy meets euphoria far from rigid genre classifications. Breakbeats from Britain come upon IDM and trance, wide synth landscapes are embedded in pop. Hence, this is how The Micronaut unifies contrasts a new in each track.

A1. Earlylate
To start a rave once again somewhere in broad acres or in abandoned tunnels. On top of that, this track, whether early or late, the arms up in the air and a riot of emotion. Air horn!

A2. Oldnew
Shuffle, but different. Almost like Kompakt wasn’t from Cologne, but from London. Similar over here, nobody is looking obliquely when the beat doesn’t march straight forward four-to-the-floor. Massive groove with obstacles, might as well.

B1. Underover
It’s as if James Holden was on his way going on a short trip in England beginning of the nineties when basses still made ears and trousers tremble. This sound won’t age in a hundred years – especially not when it’s as fresh.

B2. Smallbig?
The bouncer with tremendous thoughtfulness. A hymn for the late hours shortly before the lights go on. In last retrospect, not thinking about tomorrow. In this moment for all eternity, for one night.

Dogmatik's Alex Arnout makes a stellar return to highly promising Turquoise Blue label this September with the 'Science Friction' EP.
Turquoise Blue recently released the undeniably on point 'Sound-Byte' EP by Alex Arnout, which garnered huge support from the likes of Huxley, Clive Henry, Ryan Crosson, Damian Lazarus and Kate Simko. Arnout is a highly respected member of the underground house community having brought Maya Jane Coles career to fruition through the dogmatik imprint as well as becoming a 'go-to' engineer within the industry.
'Science Friction' see's Alex take excursions in to tripped out garage territory, heavy rolling sub lines create an earth shattering low-end punch while sonic tones and heavily delayed vocal stabs create an ever evolving dynamic. This style of production truly personifies Alex's experience in the industry, skilfully blending the classic edge of house with contemporary UK garage.

The next offering for your ears from NastyFunk Records comes from one of the years most exciting underground artists; the Italian Raffa FL. This extended play provides 4 individual tracks that simply refuse to be categorised and results in a fusing of genres with soldering precision.  NF005; The Harlot's House EP, is one you'll want to hear again and again.

The title track is a heavily influenced piece, featuring the sublime vocals of indie band, 'The Wows', whose poignant vocals replicate the hazy days of Madchester, whilst the dark baseline and housey rhythms fill the air. The remixes take a life of their own too. http://soundcloud.com/max-chapman's viewpoint is an outstanding reflection of the original, which succeeds in taking the mood to an even darker, nastier place, whilst No http://soundcloud.com/nacsmusic continue the journey, dropping the bass as low as can go, and combing it with with a contradicting uber-sleazy beat and an evocative string selection.

The final piece of music on the selection is also principally perfect in what it sets out to achieve; 'No Matter What' being simply a testament to the routes of deep house, and says to all listening, "This Is House Music."
