Der in Frankfurt am Main lebende Emanuel Satie veröffentlichte zum Start des neuen Jahres eine EP auf dem Label Get Physical und war mit einem Track auf Avotre vertreten. Nun released er gemeinsam mit der Band Spark seine neueste Nummer: “Candybox”. Das Werk bietet er via trndmsk als freien Download an und fügt gleich den Grund hinterher: “Ich find’s auch schön, wenn man als Künstler nicht permanent irgendwas verkauft und vermarktet, sondern seinen Supportern auch einfach mal für umme etwas Gutes tun kann.”

After the massive positive reactions for the first release from the Bella Avgvsta series with which we left the old behind us and said hello to the new year ,we are now ready to move on with part two.
Perfectly fitting to current winter season, Daniel puts for us something really hot in the fridge.

The A-Side „Hot in the Fridge“ skips the obligatory intro and transports the listener directly into a dark prime-time techno cloud. It starts straight with a whipping nervous rhythm section that shows the way and gives direction into a dense haze of sound wherefrom the deep bass driven main theme rises to the surface and encloses you directly with its wafting sounds.
Sweet but dangerous.

A playful ringing innocent trickle that provide the image of safety, before it ropes you into it’s energetic swirl of sound.

Following on from the debut release on Jamie Jones & Lee Foss’ new imprint, New Yorker Serge Devant makes his first appearance on Crosstown Rebels offshoot Rebellion with talented duo Audiofly on remix duty.

Setting the tone of the release, ‘The Way You Move’ is deep and dark at the roots with haunting vocals and an otherworldly aura. Audiofly deliver a solid remix, keeping it deep with rolling percussion and hypnotic energy.

o+ Serge Devant perfected his craft at legendary nightclubs such as Tunnel, Limelight and Crobar in New York from the late 90s. In 2008 he signed a deal with Ultra Records and released two albums. After releasing the first album in 2009, Serge began touring the world and forging a name for himself across the globe. After taking some time away from making music due to a serious back injury, he had the chance to rethink his musical direction. His latest release on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ new label Emerald City followed by this outstanding release on Rebellion proves that Serge Devant is back and stronger than ever.

o+o Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton aka Audiofly are one of the leading musical partnerships on the scene. Their releases can be found on the likes of Get Physical, VIVa Music, Desolat and their own Supernature. They also run a successful series of events called Flying Circus that they take worldwide.

Off the back of a whirlwind 2015 including the launch of their new label ‘Hommage’, Monkey Safari gear up to take the dance scene by storm with the release of their new EP ‘On’. The self-entitled release showcases the German act’s mixture of hip-hop and new wave influences embedded in 9-10 minute climactic and euphoric footprints that have so often epitomized the acts sound throughout their short career. Remixes by legendary techno producer ‘Paco Osuna’ and ‘Chloé’ have done no harm in aiding the producers growing stature on the global stage whilst helping their break into new scenes and demographics not yet familiar with their uplifting and melodic sound.

The EP containing two original tracks ‘On’ and ‘Matters’ utters influences taken from the act at a young and formative age. Sven and Lars unique connection was established as teens in their hometown of ‘Halle’ where the duo’s paradox of tastes complimented one another’s and has come to define the nature of their productions. Agreeing to start a youth fueled club night that exhibited the duo’s love for indie/alternative and electronica in two separate rooms, the venture became the catalyst for the pair’s amalgamation in song-writing and thus, Monkey Safari was born. A track that mirrors these tastes exceptionally is the single ‘On’, a perfect blend of steady paced house with alternate influenced vocals creating a brooding and haunting piece of music. The duos cleverly crafted layering of the track gives the vocals enough room to breathe whilst keeping the dance-fueled tempo with airy and spacious percussion. The second track ‘Matters’ focuses more on techno and trance-like elements with delayed and static analogue sounds coating the duo’s stereotypical atmospheric and surging psalm. The track is much more in-tune with the acts dance influences with no inclusion of any vocals, dedicating all attention to the core ingredients of percussion, bass and keys.

The duo’s rapid growth in recognition is best shown through Paco Osuna’s monstrous remix of ‘On’ with a typical elongated build, euphoric drop and crunching percussion that will be certain to be a stand out track on dance floors around the globe. Underground French artist Chloé’s remix of ‘Matters’ is reminiscent of the duo’s new wave motives with a perfect collage of echoed guitar samples and a grooved bass lick epitomizing the French house sound. Both remixes are equally as talented and enjoyable as the originals and will no doubt help flourish the acts credibility and respect going in to 2016.

Lush pianos and patient chords add a musical feel to the compelling grooves, and vocals, too, help colour things and add a real sense of personality and charm. Tracks from Max Cooper, S.K.A.M. and Dan Berkson & James What all prove Green knows where to look for electronic nuance and make for a slick and engaging mid section
that is as fluid and free flowing as you will find.

The latter half of the mix gets increasingly unhinged and tough, with crisp tech and churning technoid grooves making you get sweaty before trippy and brilliantly weird stuff from Green himself as well as a classic James Holden joint close things down in
meaningful style.

This is an expertly curated and mixed selection of fresh electronic sounds from across the electronic spectrum, all stitched into one essential sonic journey.
