Two old friends. A sound from a forgotten future. TGÆ is an independent electronic duo, formed in West Germany in the 1980s. For over 20 years, they’ve met once a year at the legendary “Musikladen-Studio” – a place filled with vintage synthesizers, dusty guitars, and humming computers where time seems to fold in on itself. In improvised sessions, raw, intuitive song sketches emerge. Then the production process begins: Selected material is reassembled without losing the original feel. Recordings from the sessions are re-edited, sorted, and integrated into the songs to preserve as much of the “session feeling” as possible. Musically, TGÆ moves between electronica, lo-fi pop, post-punk, and experimental soundscapes.

TGÆ’s stories revolve around love, hate, space philosophies, and the longing for universal happiness. Their bittersweet tracks blend deep emotion, a love of all things extraterrestrial, and often explore the search for something lost—a past or paradise that may never have truly existed. A powerful, mysterious, feminine ‘weak force’ with gender-ironic energy flows through their sound, balancing tensions and conflict wherever they arise.

In their world, artificial intelligences meet broken hearts, cyborgs evoke childhood memories, and stardust cigarette light tells stories of humanity in transition. Each track is part of a multi-voiced narrative about life in a posthuman world, where the search for meaning, connection, and renewal remains palpable. This creates a retro-futuristic sound universe now, for the first time, stepping into the public eye.
