THE TIME MACHINE is a radio program that uses a nonsense name as an excuse in order to interview artists from the film and television world of entertainment, as well as interviewing artists from all over the musical spectrum.

Chicago indie pop rock stalwarts, Thrift Store Halo immediately call to mind some of their regional heroes and contemporaries like Material Issue, Urge Overkill and The Smoking Popes, as well as more well-known acts such as Gin Blossoms, Matthew Sweet, Teenage Fanclub, and Velvet Crush. The common thread: well crafted, hook-heavy guitar pop, with loud, crunchy riffs, big drums and earnest yet unpretentious  vocals.  Their 1998 debut LP, World Gone Mad, featured the tracks. "If I Go" (featured on the cult TV show, Smallville - check out any Smallville-related Spotify Playlist if you don't believe us) and "Crashing In",  featured on Party of Five. Following their initial late-1990s heyday, the band took a  near 20 year break to earn the money (working real jobs) to pay off their recording (and beer) tab, before returning in 2016, like that long-lost favorite concert T you feared your mom or significant other threw out and might be gone forever. Since then, two EPs, a two-song single, and a surprise Christmas track have seen them rejoin the ranks of the indie pop, pop rock, power pop elite. Strong FM and internet airplay, great reviews and regular indie radio chart and "Best of" rankings prove that, while you may be bald, and carrying a few extra pounds, you can still go toe to toe with the youngsters if you produce memorable, hook-filled pop rock songs with big guitars and great melodies, almost tailor-made for the radio! Here's to another 26 years of making Chicago proud!
