Inspired by the poem "The Peace of Wild Things" by the American poet Wendall Berry.

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

A forest road's turn
leads me away from sad thoughts.
Ah, if only I could foresee
the twists and turns of my life.

The autumn forest leads me
To the misty goal of revelations.
There, where I lost myself,
And to understanding... not a genius.

The paths of past years meander
Between friends and family,
With whom I greeted the dawn in the woods
And with whom I dreamed of an imaginary life.

My steps weaken, my thoughts fade,
And day after day is so prosaic.
So what is the meaning of our lives?
And why is time limited?
