"Holding On" is about the abrupt changes the pandemic has caused humanity. We are all trying to find ways to cope amidst tremendous uncertainty. I wrote this song in the summer of 2020, and it is the prelude to my last acoustic release "Is It Over?"  

When the pandemic hit, I was attending university classes and working two different education jobs. I remember celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday in Saskatoon and enjoying NHL hockey on television. Suddenly, within a few days, everything was shut down and I was unemployed.

Since March 2020, I feel like we are all just “Holding On” and doing our best to make it through a really challenging time full of unknowns and uncertainties. My last single “Is It Over?” was essentially about burnout and exhaustion from dealing with the impact these rapid changes have had on our mental health. Music has always been my therapy, and I hope my emotionally honest songs are able to connect with you. Thanks so much for listening.

Holding On

For Today is a progressive acoustic rock song about the choices we make in life, and regardless of where they lead us, how important it is to try and live in the moment and live for today. Time is fleeting, and each day we spend with our loved ones is a blessing. 

I wrote “For Today” during the weekend my song “Is It Over?” was released in February 2021. Is It Over? was the first single I had released in 5 years, and I felt very vulnerable sharing such a personal and emotional song with the world. However, once the song was released, I received an overwhelming amount of positivity, love, and support from family, friends, and fans. I felt deeply inspired, and that is how I found the creative energy to compose For Today.

For Today

'Never Leave' is dedicated to my late Grandma. It's about the moments cherished with our loved ones and the fear of someday losing them. Written on Salt Spring Island, B.C, while working at a yoga centre during the summer of 2014. I slept in a tent in the woods for three months, exploring veganism and spirituality. This will be my fourth and final release for 2021. Thank you to everyone who has supported my independent music. Available on ALL music platforms.

One Step

“Minus Forty” was written after waiting at a bus stop in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for nearly an hour during -40 Celsius temperatures. My feet were completely frozen, my beard was all icicles, and the bus I needed to take to the university simply never arrived. I was angry, exhausted, and felt stupid for waiting so long. After giving up and returning home, I picked up my acoustic guitar and wrote a song about the extreme harshness of Canadian winters.
