Gleich nach den ersten Tönen wird es ein paar Grad wärmer!
Umso mehr, da man gemächlich ins Schaukeln kommt und sich in Gedanken schon in Jamaica in ner Hängematte am Strand wähnt. Aber bald wird man von einer indischen Sitar, einer Geige die an den weiten Balkan erinnert, indigenen Klängen und einer mystischen Stimme umworben die einem magisch anzieht - und schwupps - schon geht die Reise weiter.  Bald merkt man, dass es hier eh gar keine Grenzen oder sowas wie Länder gibt. Man schwebt, leicht, in einem Schwarm bunter Paradiesvögel und Raumschiffen, Seite an Seite mit fremden hochgewachsenen Wesen durch tropische Gefilde. Pillen gegen Traurigkeit wünschen sich in einer solchen Sound-Collage nur hoffnungslose Hypochonder. Allmählich wird es dann auch clubiger und ein bisschen schneller.  Auch hierfür hat es Platz in diesen 92 abwechslungsreichen und bunten Minuten, welche uns @barbarella_dd hier beschert.

18 months on from the release of their critically acclaimed 7th album, ‘There Were Seven’, UK Hip-Hop/Funk/Soul pioneers The Herbaliser return with ‘There Were Seven - Remixes’. Released on the band’s own Department H label the album features 15 newly recorded and remixed versions, plus a further 8 bonus instrumental cuts, from the likes of 2econd Class Citizen, Wah Wah 45’s Colman Brothers and Drum’n’Bass/Electronica pioneer T Power.

The band’s first album after a break of four years, ‘There Were Seven’ was hailed as ‘a buoyant return’ (Clash), resembling ’something Grandmaster Flash would produce for a modern day audience’ (The Music Fix) where ‘repeated listens of this finely realised album are therefore an enjoyable must’ (BBC Music) and saw them featured everywhere from The Guardian to DJ Mag.

Having launched themselves back into the public eye, Jake and Ollie quickly discovered how social media had completely changed the way bands and fans interacted in recent years. Rather than retreating to the tour bus straight after the show to jump on the Playstation they started to take time to hang around and meet and chat with fans and other artists they’d connected with on Twitter.

From this they got to know a whole new generation of producers, and reconnect with some old friends, with the result this album, 15 new mixes from established producers to fast rising stars such as French producer Gigabeatz Bonson, Liverpool’s Jenome and Paraguayan trio Lopez through to UK Hip-Hop legend No Sleep Nigel and sensational live act the Renegade Brass Band.

From dusty fingered soul to sparse electronica, bass heavy bangers to brass heavy stompers, ‘There Were Seven - Remixes’, takes one of the best leftfield albums of recent years and reimagines it in a myriad different ways, a testament to both the original material’s strength and the skill and imagination of the remixers involved.

original music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94LZcum8tCE              ryukyu Underground (琉球アンダーグラウンド, Ryūkyū Andāguraundo) is an electronic music duo, consisting of Keith Gordon and Jon Taylor, whose music is heavily based on and inspired by traditional Okinawan folk music.
The duo's music blends Okinawan folk songs with Western dance music and dub, and they often collaborate with native Okinawan singers and other musicians. Though their music may at times sound like a DJ's mix of dance tracks with min'yō tracks, it consists mostly, if not entirely, of compositions composed, performed and recorded as original, new pieces. It may draw extensively from traditional lyrics, tunes, and chords, it is never simply mixed from pre-existing recordings by other artists, and always includes considerable original elements. The pair started out incorporating vocals and other elements via sampling, on later albums and other releases they have worked directly with Okinawan artists, recording vocals and other elements live in the studio. The duo has released four albums, and their music has been included in Buddha Bar compilation albums and used on a variety of television programs, documentaries, and other media.

Though questions could be raised about Westerners appropriating Okinawan music, the duo's reception in Okinawa by locals has been described as "ecstatic". The duo first tested their music in dance clubs in Okinawa, and were well received, the natives even dancing traditional kachashi dances to it. In an interview in 2003, Taylor expressed that "we are both sensitive to the fact that Okinawan music is an important part of Okinawan culture, and we certainly don't want to disrespect it or commercialize it in a cheap way for profit. However, I'm confident we haven't done either."

Taylor cites Rinken Band, the Nenes, and Champloose, the leading bands of the 1970s Uchinaa pop boom, among the duo's influences. Just as those bands took up electric guitar and other "modern" instruments and sought to replicate the traditional folk songs, so Taylor notes that he and Gordon saw potential in doing something similar using computer equipment.
