Sfire is a duo consisting of Jeffrey Sfire and his friend from London.  Jeffrey, one of Detroit’s favorite DJs, known for his 80s dance, italo and chicago house sets alongside Ultramajic friends Mike Servito and Carlos Souffront.  Sfire is the latest record with two burning hot songs manicured with a Drexciya meets Pet Shop Boys tip.  One of our most ID’d tracks of 2015.  

Artwork is a collaboration from Jennifer Mehigan, whom Jimmy Edgar met in 2011 when she was making 3D crystal sweatshirts in Singapore.  Originally from Ireland, Jennifer is an artist in an undefined movement realizing cybersensuality, where the digital realm and human intimacy meet.

We couldn’t be happier to put this disc out there. Kush’s first time on wax (his Strictly 4 My CDJs series on his Bandcamp site is essential) is four tracks that just relentlessly provide for the DJ in you. Representing the new era of NYC dance music along with artists like AceMoMa and DJ Swisha, mixing footwork and other influences with classic house and techno forms to get busy.

The whole 12” is lethal stuff that recalls Dance Mania at it’s most melodic and spaced out, or prime-time Boo Williams. “Earth Note” pulls bright synths thru swinging Chi foundations, “Ari Dub” rocks the bells and the bass in Bronx fashion, “Worldly Rhythm” piles UR melodies and techno grandeur on a vicious bassline, and “Reso” closes things out with a devastating mixer full of blue-hot string work. Teaming up for the 15th EP on Heimlich Musik, Coss and Iorie deliver Casual International located somewhere between Chinatown and the Atlantic Ocean, with Shubostar and Arutani on remix duty. Cielo Azul is shaped by one of Iorie’s rare vocal appearances in Spanish with an organic beat underlined by dreamy guitar parts while Mu is based on a Chinese mantra supported by an intense bass line. Arutani’s interpretation of Cielo Azul is based on an arpeggiator bass accentuated by stripped-down parts of the original. Shubostar adds some extra tension by transforming Mu into an energetic Disco banger. Casual International as a whole creates a diverse picture of musical approaches to survive this special kind of summer.
