The decision to make this body of work has pushed the Edinburgh based producer, to take his signature style and inject it into an album that touches on all aspects of his musical taste. From Hip Hop to Soul, Funk to Latino, Bass music to Breaks. Resulting in an eclectic medley of sound to cradle the many features he has tirelessly sourced. 

For Your Soul featuring Geoff Lai from the Baker Brothers and Wings, have already received support from BBC Radio 6 Music. With more and more high-end DJ’s catching on to Gramophone Souls sound, we predict this album will be well received by the masses.

Sydney-based, British-born DJ/producer, D-Funk, delivers an excellent nu-skool breaks remake of Everything But The Girl's 1994 classic Missing on Advent Day 29. Even though the original has been remixed several times in the past, we're loving what D-Funk has done with his remix and we're sure you will too. A stripped-back feel is soon given a gritty edge thanks to the deep rumble of a sawtooth bassline, which adds a meaty texture to the otherwise sweet-sounding remake. The Cuttin’ It Fine crew are back with another Funk Butter compilation. Once again, they’ve taken the fat and protein from serious funk and churned it into some creamy dance floor nuggets, that are guaranteed to get a nice-sized Friesen body-popping in the field.

First up, following his successful chart-topping entry in the last compilation, label boss @roastbeatz steps up and delivers another up-tempo club track “Jungle Steppin”. Classic Funk vibes fused with a house music thump making this is a worthy sequel to his last Funk Butter offering. 

New recruit time, not to Cuttin’ It Fine but to the Funk Butter compilation. Being a Funk connoisseur @gramsoul demanded a slither of the action. He stepped in with “Day by day”. Staying true to elements of the original, then catching you off guard with a delicious bass line to add additional party goodness to the track. His debut FB offering is a certified banger!

Heading down under we have a repeat offender packing a slab of full-fat Ozzie funk! @pecoe is bringing some serious heat (Not too hot mate, it’ll melt) with “Good to Me”. Expect lashings of percussion, seasoned with horns and guitars.  Spread this bad boy heavily on the dance floor for exceedingly creamy results.

Last but never least, we jump from Perth to Sydney leaving a trail of slimy funk as we go. Knock knock, it’s @frankee_more Fresh from an all-nighter churning up some serious Disco Margarine. This isn’t Flora, this is some protein-packed head nod business. Frankee’s no stranger to dropping this kind of banger so when his day one’s listen to “For the Music” they won’t be disappointed.

It wouldn&rsquo;t be a real BBP year without a new Pecoe release and here he is back for his 10th release on BBP. Following up on the tasty Beat Treat EP of last year &ndash; here is Vol. 2 with 4 brand new funk nuggets for the funky DJ-sets.
Pecoe has released a lot of music lately and has decided to slow down and focus on producing high quality electronic funk tunes and this concept really shines through across all 4 jams on this release.
Starting off the EP with the James Brown in-fused crowd pleaser called So Nice, which throws down some big funky grooves and catching vibes. Followed up with the My Business which perfectly combines some sweet dance vocals with some heavy hitting golden-era Hip-Hop flows.
Moving on with the straight-up funky Gonna Do It Right which has all the right elements for a funk jam &ndash; from the wah-wah guitar to the filthy saxophone. Finally Pecoe takes us the final funk journey with the Funky Dope who takes a dip into the oldskool hiphop and some steady rocking breakbeats.
Another winner from always reliable Pecoe and straight to the funky BBP vault.

It is the year 2023, and the label Fort Knox Recordings from Washington DC is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary - of course with a first class label compilation, which should not leave any armpit dry: "Another Decade of Fort Knox Recordings" contains 20 highlights from the labels second decade from 2013-2023.

For me, a welcome occasion to dish up a tribute mini-mix from this compilation + the terrific remix by The Allergies, of the Fort Knox Five anthem "Insight" (which has been released as a single).
