Various Artists - Broken Pomises Part 4

Milan based collective Just This return with two VA releases to continue their ‘Broken Promises’ series. With the aim of documenting the progression of cultural movements, the label have pursued underground material since 2010. Broken Promises Part 3 and Part 4 are due for release on 1st December and 8th December respectively, and each feature four new tracks channelling refined techno with minimalist, ambient sentiments.
Hunter/Game open Part 3 with ‘Distance’, a meditative journey through ambient textures using expansive synths and vast acoustics. Next, Architectural brandishes 808 drums for a tense workout on ‘Electric Soul’. On the B-side, label co-owner Pisetzky explores the darker side of minimal on ‘Anterial’, whilst Altman plays with moody bass and ricocheting percussion on ‘Shapes’.
Part 4 opens with a shuffling rhythmic framework on Inland’s ‘Aechmea’, followed by ‘Zona’, a pointillist groove by Ben Gibson, aka one half of the collaborative project Dyad. On My Flower’s ‘Kundal’, a cyclical melody wanders through eerie acoustics whilst Hiver navigates a broken beat framework with glitchy distortions and dub echoes on ‘Stellar Parallax Landing’.

BeMassive Records presents a brand new compilation. This release includes tracks from new artists such as Rabo & Traumata. Introudicing Mira Joo the Budapest-Zurich based producer moves in techno, electronica, or different house styles and combines elements of different genres masterfully in her dj sets as well as her music productions. Her tranquil track is greatly suited for sunset or sunrise comedowns. The gently stuttering synths circling with the drums enhance the melancholic fulfillment. The breathing effect induces the sense of relaxation ? inhalation and release and, according to the artist, suggests the way we process those important conversations that we ended up not having. The improvisative finale hints at moving on playfully. If it is not enough we have added a great remix from Dansor who is the Founder of Comport Records, the Hungarian-born producer has released on the likes of Tulipa and Nervous, and is also the former winner of Pete Tong's Bedroom Bedlam and Dave Clarke's ADE Demolition panel. For Metha's Self track Obrotka and 88Dubs are also made great remixes. The bonus track on this release is Cvardwell's Silverstone remix for Metha's original song.

Following the release of Amandra's acclaimed Dame de Bahia album last year, Obscura present a remix EP due 14th September. Featured in the package - which will be available as both vinyl and digital - are remixes from ROD, Antigone, Agents of Time and Kris Wadsworth.

Dame De Bahia, Amandra’s second studio album, navigates a unique space between droning ambience and polyrhythmic funk. Using minimalist techniques, the Ahrpe Records co-founder builds tranquil sonic spaces that evolve on their own accord, making way for carefully mapped out rhythmic cycles. The result is an immersive listening experience replete with subtle details, but never cluttered.

For the remix package, five interpretations provide varying takes on Amandra’s originals. Agents Of Time build a swirl of trance-inducing synths on their remix of the title track, followed by a darkened dose of trippy techno on ROD’s first remix of ‘Pimprenelle’.

Opening up the B side, Kris Wadsworth creates a cavernous setting for his eerie take on ‘Polichinela’, whilst Antigone’s interpretation of ‘Linale’ veers us into warmer, ambient territory.

As part of the digital release only, ROD provides a second version of ‘Pimprenelle’, navigating a hypnotic journey through minimalist structures.
