He’s also one of the key minds behind Unbound Events, a London-based events platform using underground music as a vehicle to elevate minorities and raise awareness of social issues. He draws inspiration from Afrofuturism to guide his creative pursuits, focusing on the intersection between race, identity, history and culture. 

As a DJ, the guiding principle of Afrofuturism manifests through the fusion of techno with angular rhythms and UK-inspired club sounds to create something respecting the black roots of electronic music whilst remaining firmly forward-facing and unique.

Many lightyears away, a faint signal is received by an unknown entity.  As the transmission took thousands of years to arrive at the distant galaxy, it is now a distorted recollection of the final moments of humanity as a species.  While the purpose and origin of the signal is unclear, it paints a picture of the horrors of the end of a civilization.

For Adam 2, electronic music has always provided an opportunity for self-discovery, creative exploration, and personal liberation. Since 2016, the Vancouver-based producer and DJ has worn multiple hats in the city’s growing scene, fulfilling the roles of promoter, music curator, and co-founder of Techno label PPRZ.  2020 saw the release of featured mixes on Honcho, Techno Hour of Power, and the creation of Afrofuturism is Now – a mix series amplifying the music of Black artists. In 2022/23 Adam 2 maintained their stride sharing the bill with Carlos Souffront, Shanti Celeste, and Objekt, had high profile performances at Basscoast and Domesicle in Montreal and recently released their debut EP ‘Jungle Dreams’ on Toronto based label Model Future.  As Adam 2’s career gains momentum, they continue to build their reputation by transfixing audiences with evocative, experimental techno that intersects dynamic physicality and playful cerebralism.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: Find your own voice and trust your instincts. It sounds easy and the logical thing to do but in a world that is bombarding us with information it's easier to get lost in the sauce and follow trends and paths that are not necessarily ours. Open mindness and lots of experimentation would help with this quest. Go with the overcharging flow of the universe and you will unlock powerful ways of expanding your practice and share it to the world.
