When does profit turn into greed? 
For misanthrop the answer to this question is rooted in the influence that money can have and it is also the essential inspiration for his long-overdue solo EP entitled GREED OF GAIN. 

And we know you all have been waiting for this! This 4-track EP will be released on Misanthrop’s joint label Neosignal Recordings and is packed with a mixture of everything you could sonically ever ask for. 
The production throughout the whole release is second to none and proves why Misanthrop is one of the most pioneering and distinct producers out there. As usual we leave it to the listeners to judge each track for themselves.

The 2 x 12” vinyl EP release will be strictly limited to 500 pieces and comes with its own handcrafted

This track pretty much explains itself. The name doesn't stand for anything, it is just 'Simple' with the vowels removed, hence the vocal sample. This one was inspired by the minimal era that came around a few years ago, old Rockwell, Icicle, Amoss, and Octane & DLR tracks that were bare bones, but not. They had all the needed to have, and that's something that's extremely hard to do nowadays without sounding empty.

It is said that in the deepest layers of the subterranea, biology has no place… the complex mechanisms of old evolved relentlessly in ever-spiraling complexity, drawing their energy from the eternal thermal vents of the Worldcore. Mechanical beings woven within a delicate web of survival, spun into life from the sprawling hierarchical mechanism of the planet itself. In the dimly lit depths of one such level, subtle core alignment shifts spark their reaction, vents rerouting the intense heat through systems long untouched, spreading its energy across ancient precipitation tanks. Slow tendrils of steam curl upwards in the darkness, growing in intensity… feeding life into the machines of this place, setting the gears to their purpose. Lights flicker into being, and with them the metal orchids flourish, casting their alluring glow throughout the level. Life stirs in the fresh heat of the moment, the whirring of a thousand intricate mechanisms returning to life as wing films push against the air… every gear’s movement with a single purpose – to feed.
 
EATBRAIN presents rapidly rising Ukrainian producer NICKBEE with his GEARS EP, also featuring the eerie and alluring vocals of JOANNA SYZE. With these 4 delicately balanced and keenly crafted slices of neurofunk, Nickbee displays a refined sense of structure and minimalism, whilst delivering a powerful vibe for the dance. Half of the EP drips with dystopian spirit, bristling with razor sharp edges softened in NOWHERE TO RUN and WE FIGHT by Syze’s ethereal and alien voice. Santoku has already dominated US waters with their take on drum & bass, setting a standard within the American scene which has also infiltrated its sounds across the Atlantic. For the label’s next release, Instinkt steps forward after becoming a renowned name on imprints such as Red Light, Kill Tomorrow, Methlab, Lifestyle, Delta 9 and more pivotal record labels which have helped to define the underground scene. The trio bring their individual skills sets together, from their hometowns in Germany and Denmark, to present a cross pollination of styles which highlights just how diverse the drum & bass genre has become since its inception. Humanon also jumps on board, with one member of Instinkt joining the Slovakian and Czech team in destroying dancefloors with their own hard lined offering on Santoku’s forthcoming ‘Not Human’ EP. With an added collaboration from Interzeptor, a brand new outfit from Vienna, it’s one of the imprint’s most versatile, European deliveries to date.

Title-track ‘Not Human’ rolls out first, bringing together Humanon and Instinkt for a cut throat exploration of both outfit’s production standards. Its snaking LFO and clashing drums bring you into its heart, showing how both sets of artists go in hard and without limitations. Instinkt comes through next with the infamous Lifesize MC, who once again offers up his growling vocals throughout the tearaway record ‘Fiend’. You’re then introduced to ‘Fiend (VIP)’, which exhumes a welcome twist on the already snapping original, moving you into deeper waters whilst also rerouting the mix and pushing you through segments of antiquated, neuro infused breakdowns.

Finally you’re drawn into ‘Squad’ from both Instinkt & Interzeptor. It continues the EP’s hard lined approach, punching quicker layer after layer before it totally envelops you in its chaotic ways. With clanking percussion and a rhythm which chops and changes between every steppy set of drums, it’s the only way to end an EP which doesn’t turn down the volume from beginning to end. And that’s what makes this addition to Santoku’s discography so memorable. It not only presents the darker side of its talented roster, but also its expansion into the drum & bass world’s every corner.
