F nominally specializes in dubstep, but he’s not bound by its tics. “Shift,” exclusive to this CD, meshes the density of drum and bass with the aspirated manner of minimal techno. “Poka” and “Perspective” nail dubstep’s abrasion without succumbing to its bombast. And F is surgical: Even “Forever,” the most blatantly ambitious, grand-scale tune here, is staunched with politesse".

Brought together by the beats and bass of what we know as dnb, Spinline are made up of Hungarian threesome: Mark Gulacsi, Norbert Safar and Andras Tallai and have been making their mark on the drum and bass / electronic scene for the past 6 years with some of the most exciting, forward thinking, funk fused music around. With the trio forming what we now know as ‘Spinline’ back in 2003 it has been all systems go since then with releases on some of dnb’s leading imprints such as Ram, Shogun, Dispatch Rec’s and more.
With the likes of Chris SU, SKC, Mindscape and the Tactile collective giving Mark, Norbert and Andras some sterling advice along the way, aswell as some work with Naibu and Hydro in the studio, AND a blessing from the musical Guru that is Martyn, it took Spinline around 2 years from formation to get some of their music on wax with L Plates and Mathematics wasting little time to snap up their early material. Since then we have seen huge tracks such as ‘Radioactive’ on Shogun’s SGN:LTD and of course one of the biggest tracks of 2010 ‘Run’ on Ram Records, also featured on the highly prolific ‘Nightlife’ Mix series.
With sound which they don’t like to define we can expect a wide range of the electronic spectrum to appear in Spinline’s tracks with influences coming from inside and out of dnb from artists such as: Mos Def, Daft Punk, Carl Craig, Jonny L, Marcus Intalex and Calibre, the list goes on, although one thing in their sound they say will stay constant: Deep &amp; Rolling.
These wide and varied influences create a real individual and unique sound which is very apparent in each Spinline track which has seen more and more labels to get in line to sign some material, as with their productions the Spinline DJ shows have also been getting massive attention with appearances in the UK, Europe and further afield. With collaborations in the past 2 years with Hydro, Icicle, Data, Keza, Octane, DLR, Kasra its certainly an exciting time for them, and us !
Always pushing the boundaries of what they can do and leaving their minds open to try anything (in the studio!) 2011 is set to be their best and busiest year yet, and with plans to start their own record label too, its going to be very hard resist, and why would you !

Total Science - A Brief History

Jason Greenhalgh (Q-Project) and Paul Smith (Spinback) first met in 1987 brought together through their mutual love of hip-hop music. Over the next few years the pair developed a deep appreciation for Techno and Dance music at the beginning of its worldwide takeover. By 1991, Spinback was an established DJ, gracing the decks at events week in week out including the world famous “Universe”, meanwhile Q-Project had entered into the studio, his first release "Freestyle Fanatic", Their first label, Legend Records was launched with Q-Project’s highly acclaimed "Champion Sound" in 1992. It took their profile to new heights, and it remains one of the most influential tunes of its time and generation this was swiftly followed by the start of their early recording career together under the name Funky Technicians ……and so the unstoppable collaboration had begun.
In 1996, the well established pair launched the Computer Integrated Audio (C.I.A) label and the alias Total Science, was born. Over the coming years, Total Science had releases on all the major D&B labels including Metalheadz, Goodlooking, Moving Shadow, Hospital, Tru Playaz, 31 Records, Reinforced, Soul:r, Shogun Audio to name but a few, as well as releases under their own C.I.A. and various other imprints.

Total Science/ Q-Project have release 4 albums, however, the actual number of singles and EP’s the pair have released is currently an unknown quantity. Their relentless yearning to create music and dogged approach denotes there are just too many to mention! but defining tracks of Total Science 20 year career include:
