Explicit earned his stars and stripes as an emcee the good old fashioned way, by taking part in freestyle battles, which earned him the reputation of being one of the best freestyle emcees in the country. Having won 48 out of the 50 battles he competed in, winning titles such as the “Hype Unsigned Showcase” , and the “War with Words Battle 2” along the way .

In April 2008, DJ Fresh commissioned Explicit to start the ‘Weekly News Rap Up', which airs every Friday, repeatedly between 3 and 7pm on the 5fm Fresh Drive . The segment presented the opportunity for Explicit to flex his rhyming skills on a platform that broadcasts to over 1.5 million listeners, and has already proven to be a huge success.

Late in 2007, he released his first solo project an EP titled “My Story Page One”. The EP received an overwhelming response from fans and industry peers alike. In addition to being a significant milestone in his career, the release of his EP has set the platform for his upcoming album presently in early stages of production, with release planned for later this year. The EP featured guest appearances by top SA artists such as Reason, Proverb, Spaceman, Cash, Koli and Prototype .

Certain tracks off the EP have already received a considerable amount of airplay on local radio stations, with Beautiful Music debuting high up on T-Bo Touch's hip-hop top ten, and remaining on the charts for several weeks already.

Explicit has stayed at the forefront of the hip-hop scene since 2005, appearing in Hype Magazine countless times, as well as having tracks included in their compilation CDs. He's been featured in a double page spread in XL magazine, radio jingles for 5fm and Rhodes Fm, as well as being one of the headline performers in the 8 show “Kick in the Door” campus tour. He's featured on several compilations, mixtapes and guest appearances on other artists albums, such as Landmynz, Beats Against the Beast With a number of exciting projects in the pipelines, you'll be sure to be hearing a lot more from this rising star in the coming months.

Thapelo Lesley Makobela, also known by his stage name Lez World Wide,  was born on the 11th of August 1993. Lez is song writer, recording artist, performing artist and producer who was raised in the streets of Lyndhurst. Later moved to Alexandra after his mom gave birth to Edenvale Hospital's first set of Triplets. The rapper is well-known for delivering catchy hooks and melodies on songs which are inspired by various local and international musicians. 
He knew he loved music at the age of 12, being surrounded by up-and-coming Hip-Hop groups in the streets of Lyndhurst. Around this time he befriended the niece of the late Mshoza Bozza, who in turn introduced Lez to Mshoza. He fell in love with the musican’s lifestyle and the passion he saw in her. He's been writing music ever since.
His professional music career took off when he met Imatter, a fellow rapper who connected Lez to other artists in 2016. Among these artists was Lebonator, with who Lez would collaborate later.
The group to a liking to Lez, and together they recorded Ke Gaka at a studio that belonged to a producer/rapper Kilo The Beat Smith. The song was well received and motivated them to come up with a group name: GYT Music Entertainment. Later that year they were joined by two vocalists Buhle & Rea who also played a very positive role in their music career. The group dropped another track titled Mali in 2017 which also received positive feedback, confirming to them that they were onto something musically
Due to family commitments and unforseen circumstances, the group started splitting up but Imatter (then called Yossi T) and Lez stuck together and met a Nigerian Producer called Emmygees. Known nowadays as Superstar M.E, the producer signed the duo under his record label. They did their first song as a Duo titled Boity. Impressed, their boss decided to shoot a video for Boity. They then had to come up with a name as a duo, and they called themselves The Venom Spitters . They were still working closely with Lebonator and, later when the contract with the label ended, they became a trio: the Turn Up Lords.
Imatter later left, and Lez and Lebonator retained the name Turn Up Lords. 
The duo has lifted their profile in recent times, producing a number of hits and receiving high rotation on AlexFM. However, Lez has decided to also focus on building a solo profile so people understand him more as a solo brand. He looks forward to a very awesome year and journey as a solo brand and knows you'll also enjoy it as much as he does.
