Stepping up to the Edit Room this week we are stoked to present @tortugadesonido ! This Leeds-based DJ and producer has been doing bits as co-owner of Size 13,  recently releasing a released killer VA, ‘Subtle Oscillations’, featuring some of our favourite Northern producers.

Spicing up the 2017 drill classic “Golden Boot” by the legend that is Headie One, Tortuga has crafted up tight drum hits and sub-heavy squelches to create what he calls the “heaviest and most dangerous tune I’ve ever released”. Can’t argue with that.

With a string of releases on Trax Haven, Wile Out and Kiwis and Coconuts, Sheffield based producer/DJ Sterlo (@sterlouk) serves up the first track on the HAZMAT compilation. 

True to its name, ‘Sunblush’ is a track that simultaneously feels at home at a warehouse rave sunrise set or a Sunday shindig at the park on a warm summer afternoon. His unique percussive prowess is evident throughout this track, employing rapid syncopated drum breaks reminiscent of mid 90’s Jungle, whilst deep atmospheric melodies straight out of a Y2K-era video game, complete this track’s nostalgic feel.

To celebrate the first year of Third Degree Records we have put together this compilation entitled HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials Vol. 001). With 9 tracks covering genres that have come to define the label like Garage, Grime, Jungle, Footwork & Jersey Club, the compilation features tunes from six emerging Perth (Boorloo) producers and three from our extended UK family.

For our biggest remix package yet we have Roska Kicks ‘n’ Snares alumni and UK Funky prodigy Murder He Wrote bringing his incredibly authentic sound reworking Dakota Sixx’s vocals and Doc Zee’s atmospherics into a mesmerising, dreamy, spacey roller fusing breaks and uk funky perfectly with a deep lying sub and reverberating vocals. You’d expect nothing less than pure perfection from Murder He Wrote and his take is nothing less than that.
