Un soir de l’été 1962, Serge Gainsbourg dîne chez son amie Juliette Gréco. Un rendez-vous précieux puisqu'il lui inspire un des standards de la chanson française. Le lendemain, l’auteur envoie à la chanteuse des orchidées et ce titre dont elle crée la première version. Cette ballade aux accents pop évoque le souvenir d’une danse baptisée la Javanaise et d’un amour fugace. « Nous nous aimions le temps d’une chanson » chante à son tour Gainsbourg. Le public boude longtemps ce titre, avant de le redécouvrir dans les années 80. Aujourd’hui, ce tube est celui qui rapporte le plus de droits d’auteur à ses héritiers, au regard du nombre de versions.

One evening in the summer of 1962, Serge Gainsbourg dined with his friend Juliette Gréco. A precious rendezvous since it inspires one of the standards of French song. The next day, the author sends the orchid singer and this title she creates the first version.
