In the week leading up to this LLL session I had gone back to listen to some of my recent recordings. I decided I wanted to change up the formula I'd been following, which recently has involved a ton of minimal tech. I do love playing that stuff, but this week I opted for a more analog sort of "classic" approach to the liquid sound. More of a "summer sound". Lots of deep, jazzy rollers, chunky drums, rhodes keys. Some ragga vocals, some jungle, some atmospheric rollers. It's all in the mix. Tons of fun with the LLL crew in the chat this week.

This session was cathartic for me personally. Been working long days and have had less time to  keep up with new releases but I snagged some tunes on Saturday and had some cool different stuff to play. Started off lush, deep and running into some wobbly bassline rollers and  synth heavy type stuff that I don't usually play that much. Some techy stuff and some jungle in the second hour ending into some uplifting rollers. Awesome vibe in the chat again. Fun Saturday session.

It felt good to be back after missing a few streams in October due to "real life" DJ gig obligations. As is usual during the fall, my stream coincides with some of the biggest (American) college football matches, so it wasn't a huge turnout in  the chat this week. Most of the regular homies still checked in and hung out for a bit during the set. This week I stuck to my usual playbook. Started off on a jazzy liquid tip, into some more running liquid into some deeper tech-influenced cuts. 2nd hour was techy stuff, rollers, fun vocal rollers, back into some deeper stuff, ending on an atmospheric note. Got an invite from homie @KeithMacKenzie to play his 11/11 live stream event with him, so I shifted gears and laid down a breaks tempo set. Although I'm not as fervent a breakbeat track collector as I am drum & bass, there's definitely stuff out there that catches my ear, but I rarely get to play. I was glad to have the opportunity and amazed at how many LLL stream regulars showed up for this one — we were all straight vibin' too!

This is a very special 1 hour DJ Mix I created in May 2019 that was released as "A Journey Through the Unknown." This was my first promo DJ mix since my long hiatus away from the decks for over a decade while I was producing the festival Earthdance Florida and other events. I created this mix during a time when I recently heard halftime bass music and it inspired me to blend Jungle, DNB, and Halftime together to take my listeners on an unpredictable journey through the unknown. D:RC came up DJing (mostly drum'nbass) in the mid-90s while attending the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. As founding member of the local Phungus, Playtheavy and Sleuth Empire crews he found himself at the center of a burgeoning rave scene, collaborating with friends on dance music events in the Athens/Atlanta areas and beyond.

In 2004 he founded Studio:Machina, a graphic design practice geared towards the music industry. Building on his behind the scenes expertise and keen artistic instincts he's become an in-demand contributor on artistic projects in a variety of media. He's toured the US as member of the Smookie Illson bass music trio, serves as creative director for the Chicago-based Illeven:Eleven Recordings label and functions as brand/art director of several nightlife concepts. 

Behind the decks he currently heavily favors the sounds of DNB, but brief forays into breakbeat, house, UK Garage + Bass and dubstep are not uncommon. Get to know.
