The Grouch is one of the founding members of the internationally infamous crew, The Living Legends. Humbly beginning on a 4-track recorder nearly 15 years ago, The Grouch has steadily grown into one of the prominent figures within the independent hip hop scene. Known for captivating his listeners with his down to earth and truthfully poignant raps and production, The Grouch has successfully released over nine solo projects making this year’s, “Three Eyes Off The Time” his tenth solo release. In addition to his solo career, The Grouch has played an integral part in building the Living Legends brand, sound, and image. A consummate workaholic, The Grouch also has numerous groups outside of his solo career and LL collective, most notably: The Grouch & Eligh, Zion I & The Grouch, and The CMA with Living Legends crewmate, Luckyiam.

At last! West Coast hip-hop stalwarts Zion I & The Grouch return with their sophomore collaborative effort Heroes in the Healing of the Nation. The long-awaited follow-up to the group's 2006 critically acclaimed Heroes in the City of Dope could not arrive at a more fitting hour. This time around Z&G raise the stakes to expand the playing field from City to Nation, inviting listeners everywhere to join them on their quest in channeling their highest selves. Amp Live provides the bulk of the banging backdrops as Zumbi and The Grouch consciously kill it with a well versed ease.

On the rousing "It's Goin Down" Zumbi and The Grouch are at their best, pontificating the ups and downs of everyday life along side Soja's lead singer's reggae-inspired chorus. The semi title track "Healing Of The Nation" boasts a rare Amp Live vocal appearance where he effectively and infectiously whisper-yells "Get yourself up!!" over twisted guitars and signature heavy bass kicks. "Rockit Man" takes fans one level higher with an unforgettable soulful Silk-E performance before blasting off into infinity and beyond!

Zion I & The Grouch have been leaders marching to the beat of their own 808's for some time now but the group suggests that we're all cut from the same cloth. "Anyone changing other peoples lives for the better is a hero to me" explains The Grouch of the album's title. "People are going through a difficult transition these days," adds Zumbi. "We want this album to aid in that process."

Heroes features an array of musical brethren, including Freeway, Fashawn, Casual, Mystic, Eric of Rebelution, Jacob Hemphill of Soja, Eligh, Codany Holiday, and the R.O.D. Heroes in the Healing of the Nation is due out March 22, 2011.

D-RIPS was born on August 1st, 1991 in Pasadena and raised in Azusa, Ca. Currently resides in Oceanside. First brought up on the originals like Snoop, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Nate Dogg, Cypress Hill, and then heard about the underground scene around sophomore year high school, 2006. Living Legends, People Under the Stairs, Immortal Technique, CunninLynguists, Grouch & Eligh, Atmosphere were a handful of groups who inspired me to stay true to the culture. "I spit hot bars, I spit on cop cars, I spit game to the chicks that belong to rock stars..."-Felt That was the first song that got me hooked to the underground scene. My brother, DJ Reconnect, and I would always freestyle back and forth which made us better over time. At 14-15 years old I started writing lyrics and wrote my first good 16 bars on myspace to this girl and she liked it. At that point I knew I could write and ended up just writing for myself for self therapy. Over the years Ive bounced around from writing rhymes to painting, to doing graphic designs. Ive played baseball all my life and continued in college. I found the energy of Hip Hop to be similar to the competitive nature of sports. Fell in love with just writing deep thoughts down to beats. Small stories that have a lot of metaphors and weird examples tend to be my style of writing. My focus is to use my life experiences and find ways to connect them to how other people might feel at this time in age. Enjoy.
