I made this mix for my friend Dan Balogh (Dak) to highlight some of his great work in the studio. I used five of his tracks in various places throughout the set. The idea behind this mix was to weave his music into the being and essence of motion... to feel the energy of intense rhythm and movement... to listen, think, and dance my way toward the light.

Here is the set I DJed at the Phil Long Music Hall for the UCCS Bachelor of Innovation 20th Anniversary Party on May 1, 2025, in Colorado Springs, CO. With 500+ people in attendance, a stunning venue, incredible sound system, and wonderful people--- the evening was nothing short of extraordinary!

Here is the set I played at the nightclub Almost Famous in the Phoenix, AZ area. I kicked off the night with this set, followed by Sohmi, and then DJ Ligma closed it out.  It was truly a night (and weekend) for the ages! The club was one of the best I have had the opportunity to play: a phenomenal sound system and decor; a mid-sized club packed with people who were there for the underground house and techno that we were bringing that night! 
The weekend was filled with a core group of friends from all over the US who came to celebrate Dan Salas's (?th :) birthday party. We stayed in a beautiful AirBnB house with a pool, and I had my full DJ set-up there. So of course the beats were going all weekend, as several of us know how to DJ. Someone was always on the decks bringing the vibe. Plenty of shenanigans, lots of laughs, and renewed bonds that will last a lifetime. Love you Dan and Nikki!

Live @ Almost Famous - Phoenix - 8.15.25

An underground, jazzy, soulful house mix in honor of the 12 formative years I spent in Chicago as a student and DJ. This mix is as housey as house can get. And of course mixed with turntables and vinyl. (Btw, this mix has been grooving the Ten Kley-Nicolson commercial salmon fishing crew in Alaska for many years now. It keeps the white truck a bumpin' as it rolls up and down the main highway of Naknek, Alaska! Hahaha!)

Jazzy, soulful house. Yum, yum, bump ya some! Love it!

oἴκαδε - It All Goes Back to House (118 BPM)

This is the only mix on the planet that features beatnik poetry mixed in and layered throughout house, deep house, breaks, organic house, and minimal techno. I was fortunate to find a triple-vinyl collection of the great beat poets Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, and Peter Orlovsky reading their own poems. So the concept was born: I would find interesting stanzas and passages from various poems and mix them in during breakdowns and other suitable moments in the tracks. And the rest, my friends, is BeatnikBeats history. Haha! Really though, this is my favorite mix of all time, without a doubt.

By the way, the beats were indeed the counterculture, free-thinking poets of the 1950s-60s who altered the course of poetry, protest, culture, art, and freedom. If you haven't checked any of the beats out before, I recommend starting your foray with On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

This is a re-working and re-mixed set inspired by the set I played at Club Three in Milwaukee from 1-2 am after the Dan and Nikki Salas wedding and reception earlier. A truly unforgettable day and evening (Dan and Nikki and kids are still lighting up the night sky in Arizona) and after-party at Club Three with a killer sound system, all sorts of people from the wedding, and with some of my closest, life-long friends! :) 

I will never forget that weekend... or this set! :)

A groovy, energetic journey through various terrains of house music, with vistas, inlets, crags, and waterfalls... and if you can "keep control," you might reach the promontory that juts into the sea.

A house music DJ and supporter for many years, I first began buying house and techno records in Glasgow, Scotland, when I was there as an exchange student. Then I returned to Chicago and DJed for about ten years (as DJ Devo), holding down residencies and DJing at many of the best clubs all over Chicago, such as Red No.5, Crobar, Smartbar, and Zentra. I was the first resident DJ selected when the infamous Sound-bar opened. And of course, I DJ'd countless loft, rave, and after-hour parties. Now I live in Louisville, Kentucky, where I am still an active DJ, playing at various events, clubs, and parties around the city. I still enjoy keeping vinyl on rotation, and several of my mixes here were mixed exclusively with vinyl. Although most of my recent mixes are made with my Pioneer XDJs.  Enjoy!
