"Right Now" is a post pandemic song written about our desire to know the truths behind the pandemic and searching for answers. The song builds and ends via a riveting guitar solo. The lyrics for the song were influenced by the continuation of the pandemic and the rules for conduct that had been set in place by the authorities. As the lyrics developed, we latched onto the idea of fixing it “Right Now”!

Live again is about us getting back on our feet after a long run with the pandemic, and our desire to restore things back to the norm. As we rise again, we hope to unleash ourselves from all the rules and fight to restore our lives. We all want to live again…..some of us want to live on forever.

The signature part of this composition is the hooky melody riff that opens the track and reappears throughout the song. The lyrics were formulated on a pizza box top after a trip to Gull Harbour, Manitoba. After partying for the weekend and back in Winnipeg, we joined our friends around their pool, and continued the party. We ordered pizza and after eating, ripped the top off one of the pizza box tops, and began taking turns writing out lyrics line by line until the cardboard was full. After the party, we took the pizza box top home and put it in our studio. It sat there for over a year. One day after we had developed and initial rhythm for the song, we pulled out the pizza box and began developing the lyrical content for the song. We used some of the lines verbatim, but others we had to morph as the structure of the song became clearer. We often referred to the composition as “The Pizza Box “song. Celebrating the times we have had seemed an appropriate theme and tribute to those who love us, as the song is about being remembered when we are gone. It is a cry to live again, and again, and to be carried forth in memories of those who go forward.

D2UR went through several drafts of “Wasted Time” before they were truly satisfied with it. During the pandemic, Diane, while strumming some Zep-ish type chords, wrote a new chorus incorporating the theme of wasting time while Mike initiated some bass tracks and guitar while David incorporated a baritone guitar track to make a very cool feel for the song. They then began adding additional instruments such as drums, and backing vocals to give it its final form.
After hours of hard work and dedication, they finally crafted something beautiful that was both powerful and meaningful. The lyrics are thought-provoking yet pacifying at once – urging us to live in the present moment instead of reflecting on our past or worrying about our future so much that we forget to appreciate life today.
