This month's installment attempts to embody the spirit of London party Rage, often dubbed as 'the ground zero of jungle'. The early 90s club night by Fabio & Grooverider left, despite its relatively short-lived existence, a mark on electronic music and partying in the U.K. that will not easily be forgotten. So, well overdue for a tribute to the 'Rage age'.

Code Rising is an American Electro duo that was formed in 2010 and consists of Matt Lancaster (South Carolina) and Ryan Phillips (South Florida). Over the years, Code Rising has shared the stage and worked with some of the biggest names in the Electro music scene; performing live mainly in Miami and the surrounding Florida coasts.
After a healthy line of digital releases on Monotone Records from 2010-2013, the duo saw the release of their first full-length CD "Dissemination Protocol" on their own label, Propulsion Recordings. 2021 saw the largest release from the duo yet; "A Spectral Odyssey" was released digitally via BandCamp with a whopping 18 track playlist. Accounting for original and collaborative work, the duo have more than several 12" EP releases in their catalogue. So, what's coming up? In early 2023 a 12" wax release of "Retro Miami (Extended Cut)" and "Don't Stop The Beat feat. Gucci Bass & E.P.G." will be available via Dominance Electricity (Germany).

1. Which artists has influenced you the most?
There are too many to name because we take inspiration from many different artists.. even different genres at times. Even in terms of Electro only, it's still too many to name and we think this mix is a testament to that.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?
"Retro Miami" got an extended cut treatment and will be out on vinyl along with "Don't Stop The Beat" Feat. Gucci Bass & EPG in early 2023. This release will be distributed via Dominance Electricity. Aside from those, we have ~10 or so additional tracks in the works. Several of which can be heard in this mix. Also, be on the lookout for Mixer Fixer: Part 2, which may or may not be a wax release as it is yet TBD.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?
Dominance Electricity has been kind enough to have us on board several times now. We give a huge "Thanks!" to Matthias Weise for that and we hope to continue releasing music with him. It's always an honor to be part of such a respectable label with a clear vision and the means to execute it. Not to mention Matthias is just a great guy to work with in general. Super nice!

4. What inspires you now to create music?
The fans.. those people who message us online or chat with us at our live shows about how much they enjoy the sounds we create.. that's a big thing that keeps us going. Though tweaking knobs, writing beats, and experimenting with odd synth sounds is something we take a pleasure in doing anyway. It's difficult for any artist to keep their same sound and style over time and at the same time not sound "formulated". So we keep challenging ourselves to do more, do better, and be different. Our efforts are a small contribution, but like many others in the community, we try to help push the next wave of Electro sounds toward the future.

On that note, most inspiring of all is the fact that there are many, many talented people around the globe producing stellar Electro; Their love and imagination for the genre being the only ceiling of their creativity and chosen style. This fact alone means Electro as a whole will always be immune from sounding over-saturated and boring.

Nacida en Madrid a principios de la década de los '80, Martina empezó a mostrar desde muy temprana edad una inusual preferencia por los sonidos oscuros y abruptos de bandas como Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Front 242, DAF, Nitzer Ebb o And One, influencias impulsadas por la música que sonaba en míticos enclaves madrileños como Elanuet 80s Bar o el legendario Specka Club y que le llevaron a profundizar en el post-punk, la darkwave o el EBM, géneros que sentarían las bases de su identidad como selectora. En sus sesiones, definidas por un instinto natural para establecer sinergias insondables entre diferentes estilos, podemos encontrar Electro, Techno y EBM tanto de antiguo como de nuevo cuño; géneros con los que conforma un paisaje sonoro único, personal y absolutamente impredecible.

Born in Madrid at the beginning of the '80s, Martina began to show from an early age an unusual preference for the dark and abrupt sounds of bands like Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Front 242, DAF, Nitzer Ebb or And One, influences driven by the music that was played in legendary Madrid enclaves such as Elanuet 80s Bar or the legendary Specka Club and that led her to delve into post-punk, darkwave or EBM, genres that would lay the foundations of her identity as a selector. In his sessions, defined by a natural instinct to establish unfathomable synergies between different styles, we can find Electro, Techno and EBM both old and new; genres with which he forms a unique, personal and absolutely unpredictable soundscape.

FRANCOIS DILLINGER debuted his hybrid live and DJ set at Propaganda for the ECU Showcase using 2xCDJs and an Elektron Analog Rytm. In between electro classics and new cuts, Dillinger layered drum rhythms as a third deck and in some cases remixed his own tracks live as well as debuting some exclusive edits and forthcoming tracks from EPs coming soon on ECU and PPRZ.

This mix was recorded live at THE DATA MINE inside the legendary Tunnel Club in Birmingham on the 3.10.24 .

Broken Joe is the creator and brains behind the Data Mine in Birmingham who's events have been a pillar in the cities nightlife scene with their nights, showcasing the best names in Electro, aswell as running a prominent stage at shambala festival every year.

Before tunnelling down to the subsonic realm that is the Data Mine, Joe ran Broken Minds for over 25 Years, a legendary DnB night in Birmingham.
He was Head of sound and production for The Que Club, Medicine Bar, Custard Factory and more recently The Rainbow Venues.
He now owns the Operation14 Sound Hire company.. Curating and delivering events. 

Joe was inspired by The infamous Oscillate Sound System, ran by Higher Intelligence Agency in the early 1990s. This motivated him to move into DJing, which then in turn lead him onto taking an avid interest in Sound Systems and events. 
He has created his own take on what he saw at these early acid tinged parties, and has now become a resident for them during their recent return to events, which has been an incredible full circle moment for the producer.

He's released on well respected labels such as Science Cult, Pyramid Transmissions and Borg recordings... with more TBA soon.
