This set starts off with some Organic House at around 117 bpm.  The tempo slowly picks up to 122 bpm about an hour in as I transition to Afro House and then finish off with some Progressive and Melodic tracks.  Generally, I played nine tracks before going through 80% of "Dan's Radio 007" setlist, then played another 20 some tracks after.  This set steadily picks up in energy and goes for nearly 4 hours. Dan's Radio 007 - Organic & Afro House (Extended Set)

Coming in hot, episode 008 takes the listener on a journey through Bush Tech and Melodic House with an important message: I can't save you.  That's the title of the first track and also happens to be a lesson I learned, you must save yourself. Experience is a cruel teacher.  It is so important to hit record before you start your set.  If you arrived early, track 1 isn't there yet, but I will fix that in time (done).  This set was recorded live outdoors at Post Canyon in Hood River, OR.   Adventuring is my passion and being able to play music in crystal clear quality in my favorite environments has been a dream come true.  On this weekend filled with love, friends, kiteboarding, and good music I realized I have become my own hero.  I wanted the music I love to be played in the places I go doing the things I enjoy.  A gift I gave myself on my 40th birthday included array satellite speakers, 18-inch woofer, and a generator.  With these tools in hand I was able to share this music in the way it was meant to be listened to.  Birds of a feather flock together and the sound drew in some new friends.  The intensity at the start of the set excites, but it is the chill tracks coming down the line that will keep you listening.  This one finishes off very nicely. 

This setlist is a deep, emotional, and progressive sonic journey, drawing from the worlds of melodic techno, progressive house, and ambient electronica. It weaves together brooding, club-ready tension with lush atmospheres and cinematic resolve - perfect for a sunset-to-afterhours set or introspective dancefloor experience.

Dan's Radio 010 - Naughty House

This episode leans deeper.

Dan’s Radio 011 is for the after-hours crowd, the introspective drivers, the ones chasing something a little more hypnotic.  I took the four most intense tracks from Dan's Radio 008 and made a set even more intense.  Where episode 008 calmed down, I cranked it up here. It’s a blend of deep and immersive rhythms, melodic tension, and synth-driven storytelling, music that simmers, creeps, and eventually overtakes you.

This set doesn’t push for the spotlight. It creates space for movement, for thought, for getting lost in the layers. Heavier, darker, and more refined than previous chapters, episode 011 wasn't about where my ear is at, it's just what I wanted to play that night, underground, intentional, dialed in.

French 79 – Quartz (this track scored my the most breath taking time lapse I've ever captured: the Northern Lights, after snowmobiling through the night into the mountains)

The Chemical Brothers – The Private Psychedelic Reel (Surrender was the first EDM album I purchased in 1999, and then this track sealed the deal)

Dan's Radio 011 - Underground Alchemy

I eased into this set with some mellow, melodic house, smooth, sunny, and stretched-out like a perfect summer afternoon. As the BBQ cooled down and the first feet hit the dance floor, the tempo lifted and the vibe shifted. We flowed into tech house territory, riding that groove into sunset, with a few surprises (yes, that Baby Got Back remix by San Pacho moment made the dock bounce).  There are a few drum and bass tracks in there, too.

Tuna's 4th of July Set - Melodic, Tech House & DnB

This set was recorded live aboard my good friend, Martin's boat, "The Backyard", cruising from Lake Union through the Montlake Cut and out into Lake Washington on a perfect summer Saturday in Seattle.

This chill voyage quickly turned into full-on party mode, weaving through the swarms of paddleboarders with tech house grooves bumping, the skipper put the throttle down once we hit open water, and I kept DJing.  The goal was to drop hook near Kirkland where the wind likes to funnel through for a day of sun, kiteboarding, and celebrating a friend's birthday.

The vibe? Pure summer boat party energy!  Expect driving tech house, vocal hooks, remixes of some classics, and a splash of Afro house. This one rides the line between sun-drenched and sweat-soaked, and it’s meant to be played loud!

If you find yourself needing to decompress after listening to this set all the way through, I highly recommend "Chill the 4th Out" in the cue to be played next.  This set compliments The Backyard set as a nice palate cleansing breather as it opens with smooth melodic house.  Careful, stick around too long and the fireworks start again ;)

After the big Andrews Bay party on Saturday and a late night at Monkey Loft, Sunday was all about close friends aboard Martin’s boat, The Backyard, on Lake Union. Before starting my set, I had a tarot reading on the boat from a couple of our beautiful friends, the perfect way to set the tone for the day. We cruised, laughed, and let the music carry us into sunset.

The backbone of this set was Afro house, deep and tribal with a few surprises sprinkled in. Highlights included Luttrell & Molly Moonwater’s “Something Right” lifting the energy, TMPLE’s “Guessing Game” pulling everyone into the groove, and Enamour’s “Is This Your Card?”, a fitting echo of the tarot reading. Mid-set I threw in a fun curveball with “We No Speak Americano,” which brought big smiles from the crew. As the sun dipped, JUNO’s “Last Dance” set the golden hour vibe, MOONLGHT’s “Smooth Operator” saluted Martin’s smooth docking skills, and we closed with “Rule The World.”

Aboard the Backyard - Afro House

Dan’s Radio episode 12 was recorded live at an unofficial After Earth afterparty, camping out in Rufus, OR with close friends after the Stonehenge gathering. Just under four hours long, the set starts out as people are settling into the site after an epic show.  With no predetermined setlist, I played what I wanted to hear, and after making some observations of the listeners, I started the deep progressive house journey. This one takes winding things down to a new level. The last 30 minutes shift into extremely chill tracks, and the set closes with ambient soundscapes, “mindful water flow”, a gentle descent meant to ease the night into rest.

Happy Ending House Party

This is the first track I created in Ableton that I felt satisfied with relatively speaking.  I have been learning Ableton for a couple months now and finally starting to feel more comfortable with it.

If art decorates space, music decorates time. As a DJ-this is just a hobby-my goal in recording sets is to create a soundtrack to life: theme music for my adventures. I embrace an inclusive approach to genres, refusing to limit myself to any specific style; my broad taste allows me to explore many types of music, ensuring a unique experience for every set.

These sets take the listener on a journey-not my journey, but yours. It could be a voyage in your mind or a hike with headphones on. I am just a messenger who curates a selection of songs created by very talented producers.

Sometimes, the tracks I select resonate with the emotions I am feeling. Other times, I read the room, and my goal is to create an enjoyable experience for the audience. Often, I discover a new favorite track that really slaps, and I include it in a set so I can enjoy it fully, along with complementary tracks leading up to the new favorite, guiding the listener back into Earth's orbit afterward.

Recently, I crafted "Dan's Radio 008" as a thoughtful gift, featuring a favorite track, "I Can't Save You," alongside my personal favorite, "Salve in the Mist." This mix isn't just about the music; it’s a harmonious bridge that captures my creativity and passion.

By the way, I am a Civil Engineer by profession. My journey has taught me the value of community and togetherness, reflecting my desire to connect with others through the universal language of music. I hope you enjoy the sounds, and I'd love to hear your feedback.
