It’s team time again as we issue yet another huge collaborative effort from some of the scenes most accomplished producers and biggest names.

DIS070 draws together the collective powerhouse force of DLR, Hydro, Villem, Fields, Mako and Linden over two tracks to provide an outing of gigantic proportion, individually each producer within their own right is more than capable of delivering the goods in solo work mode, so imagine the results you would get from locking them all up in a dark studio room together for hours on end to channel their combined genius!

Well the result of that scenario is right here and is everything and more you may expect it to be. “The Formula” sees DLR, Hydro, Villem & Mako in combination for an effort that is nothing short of sublime, each bringing their own finely tuned skillset to the table in perfect compliment to each others skills whilst at the same time adding their own perfect measure of individual ingredients to produce a near perfect recipe. This one has already had the Friction seal of approval and thus has been aired twice to date on his weekly BBC Radio 1 show.

The flip sees Villem, Linden, Fields & Mako jump in together for “Saturate”
This time the result is a massive heavyweight roller underpinned with a frightening amount of low-end grunt. The perfect compliment to the A-Side and a devastating track for any dance floor regular.

The Dream Thief series from Horizons Music has already seen three spectacular releases, with music from a very real who’s who of contemporary, leading edge drum & bass. The phenomenal fourth instalment is no different, with a total of twelve tracks across three different formats. Horizons’ reputation for finding music which is that little bit different, that little bit special, will be enhanced by the album, which presents the full range of drum & bass in 2013.

The album will be proceeded by a double pack vinyl sampler, which includes the first four tracks. Warning Signs by Need For Mirrors is a warm, flowing intro, and Eveson takes you across the Cosmos before NickBee and MC Fava ask the Same Questions. The first part of the collection, which is also available in its entirety on the CD format, is closed by Nitri and Release's spellbinding In Forrest, featuring Lyndsey Murray. This track sums up exactly why Dream Thief is such an amazing series, and why volume 4 is the best to date.

A four-piece vinyl pack will be released to cover the remaining eight tracks. Amoss team up with MCJC on the deep, menacing Bleed It, whilst The Invaderz continue in that flowing yet intimate territory on Quo Vardis, which picks up the pace to become a towering roller of a track. You won’t want to be Trading Places with anyone on DLR’s track, which blends some old skool sensibilities with a resolutely modern take on the sound.

Horizons, as ever, has gathered together a selection of the finest names in the scene. Utopia Music’s Mako comes correct with the devastating Hungry For Lies, which is followed by The Shield, from Gremlinz & Rumbleton, an otherworldly chunk of spacey, dub-influenced goodness.

The last three tracks readily demonstrate quite why Dream Thief 4 is such essential listening. Detail’s Human Trust is an intricately detailed vision of a nightmarish future world, whilst Naibu’s Comfort Zone manages to combine warming, human sounds with an electronic pulse. Hydro and Instant close Dream Thief with the epic Sanctity, which draws together the themes and sounds of the record to a fitting end.

Mako has his first full outing for the Headz camp via METH XX. Meth XX is the fertile breeding ground for new Metalheadz artists that gives them a chance for to express themselves with the music they are making right now.
Enter Mako.

'Gully' is exactly that, gully. It’s an exercise in how to get a dancefloor moving, contorted bass, big stepping drums. Great for DJ’s and dancers - kept interesting and even changing its step at the very end of the track showing an attention to detail  sadly missing in this day and age.

One of the UK’s freshest new drum & bass talents drops his debut solo single on Critical, this one is simple mammoth! Emperor has been making waves over the past couple of years moonlighting with various camps but it was the keen ear of label boss Kasra that cottoned on early drawing him deep into the Critical ranks. If this new single is anything to go by, one of the best decisions Critical could have made.
The cinematic intro of ‘Begin’ is beautiful blend of strings, reversed fx and the sultry vocals of Georgia Yates who featured on the Enei album last year. All build to a haunting dropout before the next stage, an absolute nasty tech-stepping future roll-out that’s been getting Fabric in sweat these last few months. Twisted, uplifting and wonderfully emotive, this is another slice of Critical magic.
Next up and we’re treated to the vintage double-bass grooves of ‘She Said’. Another huge epic intro featuring a soaring vocal drifting over ethereal pads features here as hi-end percussion leads into the fattest bassline for a properly funked up dance floor workout. Think Roni Size ‘Brown Paper Bag’ or Peshay’s ‘Miles From Home’ for 2013...bad to the bone!
