This song was written about 2 years ago, right after I came back from visiting a place I spent a large part of my childhood in. A place that is very dear to me... In the song, I'm addressing childhood memories and talking about how our view on things changes as adults. Everything becomes less magical, and nothing will ever feel the way it felt when we were children. Our physical memories as a child remain memories and can, of course, never be relived. Sadly it also seems to be the case when it comes to our emotional memories. What you felt before society polluted you with it's norms and musts, will forever be just a memory... Even if you go back to visit the places in which these moments played out. To your adult self, a simple thing like a flower on the side of a dirt road is just that... A simple, insignificant thing like a flower on the side of a dirt road. But in my memory, that flower might be closer to my heart than most things I've experienced as an adult. Not saying that I'd like to be a child again... Just saying that it's a shame that I'll never FEEL in the same way again (No, not feel the same way. Feel IN the same way). Might add that this is my first attempt at a classic Lo-fi song. Really enjoyed the process of writing it. Anyway, it made my mother cry the first time she heard it.. Hopefully you'll get something out of it too.
