What a hectic weekend packed full of Funk, Chunk and some of the fattest BASS Perth has seen. So many talented people came together to make this event happen and although I didn’t make the cut for the main lineup this year, I managed to still blast plenty of funky bass thanks to the crew at Hyperspace. 

I'm so glad I made it down to Armoin in time, we were in such a rush aha. We got to the gate 5 minutes to this set LMAO, but but some miracle and some guidance from friends I was able to make it to the stage and setup with less than 30 seconds to find my first track ahaha.

Well without further ado, here is my set from 8pm Friday night. It's a big mash of the classic funk bass / glitch tunes I play. Plus a bit of other variety mixed in, including but not limited to DnB, Dubstep, Prog and more!

In this uncertain world where we are prepared to give up so much of ourselves personally into data harvesting and targeted adverts, is this driving our impulse buys and pushing us to swipe right, or our we in command? How much of our 'desires' are real, and how much are we controlled? In this peak consumerist culture, is what we desire really genuine, or are malign forces driving us ever further towards their goals?

'Controlled Desires' continues a new VA trilogy series for Codename: RCRDS, with several newcomers joining the party for part II.

The EP commences with the hardest working man in mastering, Nurve, bringing the heat with 'Faded Glamour', a tearing dancefloor banger which should find homes in plenty of sets. Ahead of his first full release on the label, Indigo Virus delivers an epic slice of hazy jungle with 'Things Change', before Data B ably demonstrates his beat swordmanship with the dark rolling shaolin number 'Rumble'. The EP draws to a close with another debutant, Joey Del Toro slamming into focus with the amen tearer 'Play That'.
