‘Recall’ is @Debbauk's first experimental release  — a meandering soundscape with hints of the weighty breakbeat and distinctive vocal chops first portrayed in his Circular Jaw release back in 2019.

After completing his degree in sound production, the Staffordshire-born producer and DJ, Debba, quickly made a name for himself in the capital's underground scene. Fusing a dense, eerie style of UK techno, bass and breaks, Debba's attention to detail shines through with a new intricate sonic detail waiting to be uncovered with each listen.

Hailing from the dramatic backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, CAIN encapsulates his ties to music and the natural world through a lens of organic textures, detailed instrumental arrangements, and dance-inducing drumwork. Potential Energy marks an impressive label debut from London-based producer, and former Brighton music student, Delano. Although relatively new on the block, his productions uphold a sense of maturity and complexity, evidenced by recent support on BBC Radio 1, 6Music, and Boiler Room.

Comprised of 4 original tracks the EP stays true to its namesake; conjuring future rave fantasies that play on the build and release of tension, encapsulated by elements of trance euphoria, progressive techno and explosive bass & breaks.

Re-imaginings of ‘Close 2 U’ - from fellow label mate Debba and Keep Hush’s scg - bring things to a slower, stripped back focus, rounding off the release on two distinct chug and acid tides.

“I’m always on the hunt for old records” Delano explains, “but for this project I wanted to do the opposite, try to create sounds that spark ideas of what the clubs of the future could sound like”.

Dancefloor moments and community have also played a major role in shaping the EP: “I think the majority of my inspiration comes from the people around me. I’m lucky to be surrounded by a lot of very talented creators who share the same goals and ideals”.

The Anthrobotics EP presents a series of sonic experiments in the breaks, electro and techno continuum, inspired by 90s video game nostalgia, sci-fi soundtracks, and the evolving sound of the UK dancefloor.

The release also marks a welcome Erbium label debut for Jordan Harding and Kulv Ghatora aka Joku — a project aimed at bridging the gap between their individual artistic styles, combining bright, euphoric melodies and soundscapes with dark, gritty basslines and percussion.

But that's not all: Taipan Trax founder and mainstay producer Phasmid, alongside prog-trance newcomer Sattam, round things off with two mind-bending remixes.

It's always nice to be greeted with an enigmatic selection of music fron an unsuspecting source. Kristian Birch-Hurst is a disc jockey and producer emerging from Birmingham. From a musical perspective he digs deep, blending an elegant array of style, genre and sound in a well rounded presentation which will leave toes tapping and ears intrigued. As a contributing writer here at Ransom Note he has expressed a wealth of fierce knowledge as well as an awareness sometimes lacking from a musician working in such an environment. As the co founder of Voyage Events he has helped push and promote a spectacular array of talent through his parties with the likes of Mehmet Aslan, Haai and more all gracing the booth. 

This mix is a subtle blend of disco, funk, soul, house, techno and abstract electronics and should demonstrate just why we are excited by him as a disc jockey. Lock in.
