At the center of Dadub's SA020 lie the myths of the ancient Greek goddess Demeter - her search for daughter Persephone, the drink at the Eleusinian Mysteries ceremonies in her honour, and the fungus which gave the drink its psychoactive properties. The opening track is 'Mistresses March', a thumping narrative of Demeter’s search for her abducted daughter Persephone. At the fundament lies a test of a new generation VST – ‘Diachronic’ - which is used to manage audio samples. The textures which merge during the near 12-minute march scrape and plummet, raining down upon the ominous marching band beat. This is an odyssey, unhappy and unflinching.
Based on the handmade modular synth system from Nicola Buono and Lino Monaco, the representation of ceremony drink 'Kykeon' is on one hand a flowing narrative and on the other a demonstration of intense artistic scrutiny: a perfect, unremitting thud. There is, at five minutes, a subtle key pattern, light but not impermanent under the cacophony of chaos. This is indicative of the ceaseless self-examination. Little details, significant differences.
Powered by a sound and groove generator invented by Daniele de Santis (Grün), 'Ergot Kernel' is a chemical cauldron. It’s a beat continuously emerging from the undergrowth; an imperious column rising; a train ploughing on, coursing through an arid landscape. Conversely, the atmosphere is bright, full of electricity and warmth, with moisture descending.
Dadub's SA020 is a journey through a Greek myth, with textural magnificence and technological innovation.

The Human being is disappearing buried under the roles and timing of production and consumption, sentenced to stand by the ultimate seriality and being unable to distinguish reality and fiction. 
In a world constantly accelerating towards no direction, men become a resource, basically meat for algorithms. Just like the simplest gear, any man can easily be replicated and replaced while being confined to the borders of a stream of information where reality is motionless. Considering the current human condition from the relevant perspective of Fire At Work matured from its extensive counter-culture militancy. Sound and noise are an extreme proof of human intention, electronic music is the common ground to face the mechanism even before the machine. 
This release tells about the post-industrial alienation without being a passive statement. The choice of the composition materials (piano, ghironda, urban soundscapes), as much as the organization, outline a well defined position, claiming the preminence of the human act, the choice and the imperfection to be opposed to the accuracy of automations, and the sterility of binary choices. It's an act of resistance to the mechanism itself, instead of the machine. 
The side A floats between a Piano intro and a cinematic tail of ghironda and Crumar, shaping the body itself of the ep: R/WS, a deep obsessive piece, framed between glitches, carries heavy downtempo rhythm and obscure timbres. On the B side, RW/S gets reshaped by Dadub and Positive Centre, two remixes swinging between broken-techno and pure experimentation, a tribal decay that closes the ep recalling once again a condition that is primitive, ritualistic and restless.

‘You Are Eternity’ is the third album to be released on Stroboscopic Artefacts and comes from two of the minds who have shaped the label since its earliest days: Dadub. Recorded over a period of two years, but containing fragments and ideas that stretch back a decade ‘You Are Eternity’ has been mixed together to form a continuous piece rather than twelve discreet tracks. The effect? An immersive journey that encompasses the descriptors brutal, ferocious, ambient and aqueous.

It would be easy to describe the album’s structure as that of two halves, but it’s not that simple. The structure that Dadub has developed is cyclical at its most compliant, and elliptical at its most oblique. Within these forms the sounds that emerge run the gamut of electronic music. ‘Existence’ and ‘Unbroken Continuity’ explore futuristic, atmospheric states. ‘Path’ swaggers with rippled dub. Embedded into ‘Truth’ is a polemic sample of Henry Waxman questioning Alan Greenspan. And the same record houses ‘Transfer’, a staunch cut that’s more than fortified to do some damage.

In the studio Dadub’s process is nothing short of alchemical. Their characteristic sound originates from entirely digital sources, but their sound treatments reanimate this raw material filling it with warmth and human emotion. The source loops and synthesised lines are run through countless channels and complex chains of effects to arrive at a destination unrecognisable from the points of origin. Dadub are true sound materialists.

Knowing that Dadub place so much emphasis on process, it’s all the more interesting to hear their collaborations with other artists and ‘You Are Eternity’ is graced by fellow SA cohort Edit Select, the sound experimenter Øe and Ninja Tunes stalwart King Cannibal. It is indeed King Cannibal who teamed up for the album’s most ferocious cut ‘Transfer’. Whereas ‘Experience’ ft. Øe is a hazy slither of atmospherica. And the only straight kick of the entire record is to be found on the track with the most elusive subject matter, ‘Circle’ ft. Edit Select, a collaborative elegy on the ultimate unknown. ‘You Are Eternity’ tends towards spaces that are undefined, that are unquantifiable - this album is a foray into Jenseits.

The album title hints at the almost spiritual origins of the album, Dadub’s search for music that goes further, that spreads away from the confines of the time and place in which we find ourselves, music that seeps into the cavern of the eternal. Tucked into ‘Vibration’, the very first track, is a sample of the Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He leans close and says: Music is a spiritual gift, and those who misuse it, die young. Sage words. ‘You Are Eternity’ is a record that refuses to take any chances, Dadub are clearly producers intent on being around for quite some time.

DADUB - You Are Eternity (Continuous Mix) [Stroboscopic Artefacts]

A Sun Called Moon​ is a superior first representation on Ohm Resistance, detailing their ongoing mission of creating bass-present music, regardless of dancefloor conformity.
The Time You Killed opens as a psycho-acoustic audio film, depicting the unknown world from which the EP emanates. I Would Gladly Die... introduces the first heavy rhythmic patterns, completely alien to identified structures, while unmistakably pushing a groove that entrances hypnotically. Past Times Present Ruins lowers the tempo and continues extrapolating into new rhythmic territory - or is it ancient? It Was Too Soon follows with beat driven hednod, as influences from Scorn to Autechre are subsumed into the universal language that comprises Dadub.
Feeling both familiar and foreign, both modern and eternal, Dadub’s first appearance on Ohm Resistance is a fascinating drama played out in 4 acts. Spliff recommended - subwoofer required.

Dadub is a project formed by Daniele Antezza and Marco Donnarumma, dedicated to combine Sound Design and Audio Engineering Experimentation with the aesthetic and musical heritage of Bass Music, Voodoo, Ancient Alien Rituals, Chaos Magick.

After several years of collaboration with the groundbreaking label Stroboscopic Artefacts – whose aesthetics and musical output they profoundly infuenced, Dadub reached a peak in 2013 with the release of the Debut Album “You Are Eternity”, whose critical and audience acclaim brought the duo to perform in festivals and clubs worldwide.

After some years of silence and countless hours experimenting with new dub techniques inspired by obscure science fiction material and the physical force of low frequencies, Daniele and Marco have been evolving the signature Dadub sound into a new auditive universe.
