Deep in Concentration

Under the alias Daedelus, Alfred Darlington has been an instigator of electronic music culture for the past 25+ years. A fore-figure of Los Angeles' Beat Scene, they have released 20+ LPs, countless EPs, remixes, and additional productions on labels such as Ninja Tune, WARP, and Brainfeeder. As a performer they're synonymous with controllers, from the grid Monome to computer-free modular, and have played over 1,000+ shows on 6 continents at events ranging from Boilerroom to festival mainstages such as Coachella.

Dj at Dublab, founding faculty member for the Berklee College of Music's EDI (Electronic Digital Instrument) program, and S.E.T.I. artist in residence.

Daedelus has begun to live up to their Greek mythological namesake.

Angels talk about the immeasurable power of music that they themselves even may fear. Music means the world to me. I need music daily. I believe there is at least one song that will produce a certain mood or emotion for anyone. Deux personnes pédalent dans la nuit. Iels pédalent avec leur lampe frontale. D’abord seuls, puis iels se retrouvent en haut du pont au-dessus du Rhin. Il fait nuit. Leur lampe frontale et les lumières de la ville illuminent. Iel lâche de l’eau dans une barque du haut de l’algéco. Il colle des photos dans des verres de sa balade. Iels se battent au pied de l’arbre du jardin de la girafe. Iels reviennent dans le bâtiment où le public se trouve. Le brouillard s’est densifié. On ne voit pas plus loin qu’à trente centimètres.
