Vienna-born and Berlin-based DLV is not a blank slate in Europe’s techno industry. He defines his music as a realm of sinister peak-time Techno.

 A strong focus on productions and his DJ career made him score an underground hit called “Rave Instructor“. This heavy dance-floor weapon achieved some big support coming from techno royalties such as Amelie Lens, Regal, and many more.

 Besides his longstanding residency at Grelle Forelle, he kept pushing his personal limits. As founder of Acid Techno Techno Club, a Vienna-based label and event series he started working as well behind the scenes and contributing to the techno industry. Soon he became a well-known and respected figure in the Austrian capital’s Techno scene. The dedication to his work and passion for music, resulted to perform at Red Bull’s Soundclash in Stuttgart back in 2019, followed by shows in Europe‘s infamous Techno capitals Berlin and Paris. With convincing performances, he could gain international attention for his projects. 

During the current pandemic situations, he focused on new productions and could score a release on Klangkünstler‘s OUTWORLD. With „Der Teufel (Gazometer 98 Mix)“ he once more gained international support by Kobosil, Amelie Lens, Dax J and many more pushing him to the top of the Beatport Hard Techno charts.

Jaded: Hi Melissa, thank you for recording this hour for the Children Of Jaded. How do you define your sound, and can you tell us about your journey into techno and influences?

Melissa: Thanks so much for inviting me, completely my pleasure to do it for you guys . I define my sound as very fast paced hard and industrial techno. I am influenced by hardcore, gabber and hardstyle music too. My journey into techno started not too long ago about 2 years. I was first listening to more mainstream techno for example drumcode but I quickly discovered the more underground techno scene and realised that I much preferred it. It was actually through Jaded that I discovered industrial and hard techno. I got to know many of my favourite artists through Jaded events and social media. My biggest influences are people like WNDRLST, TRYM, Nico Moreno, ØRGIE, Veta.M, Tyrant, Plexøs.  Their productions are really what inspired me to start everything. 

Jaded: Your “It Hurts To Talk About It“ on the Normative VA is a high intensity industrial weapon! Will there be more released this year and can you tell us about your creative process?

Melissa: Thanks! Yes definitely, I am really focusing on production and now I can say that I love it just as much as I love DJing.  I will release by debut E.P on Scale Trax in April. I’m really excited to release on this label! I have contributed to various artists compilations which are set to come out soon. I am also working on productions with other artists, which is something I always wanted to do. In terms of my creative process it usually takes me around 10 days to finish a track. I try to focus on one main melody and go from there. I like my tracks to show a progression building up towards one main melody and then building down afterwards. The kick is also really important to me, I spend a lot of time to perfect it because for me it defines my style. My set up right now is 100% software so it’s always just me and my laptop, and I guess my emotion at the time that inspires me to create that specific track.

Jaded: We are looking forward to your tenure as Rave Edition resident. What will you be bringing to room one and who would you most like to play alongside this year that you haven't had a chance to (yet).

Melissa: I am so happy and excited to be a Jaded resident and especially for this event. I couldn’t be happier and I am really grateful. I hope to bring a lot of high speed industrial rave techno. I want the rave editions to be extra special and crazy. This is why I think and hope my style works well for them. There are so many artists that I would love play alongside. So many people are shaping the scene right now; Dyen, Oguz, WNDRLST, Nico Moreno, Ørgie, 93Sovage, Mâcka, Axel Picodot, TRYM. It would be my dream to play alongside any of them!
