Bringing in Tapes #124 is Riva, the Berlin and London-based DJ, producer, promoter, and resident DJ at Fold, Refuge Radio and Manni Dee’s newest party “Silk + Steel”.

Her music does not hinge on one genre as Riva sees music as a form of storytelling, protest and is always on the hunt for rhythms that can spread a message, unify and emancipate the listener on the dancefloor.

"thanks for letting this mix live on Hue & Saturation : ) about the energy... naturally, since this was for our lesbian ambient night (LAN) the energy was very much in that genre (as in ambient). i remember being pretty emotionally charged this evening and i really wanted to move the set like a mixtape. i also really wanted to touch on a few of the songs (actually two) that have been sitting on my usb that i rarely get the chance to play. one in particular has been a longstanding favourite for nearly a decade now.. others a lil closer to recent years. 

i love @fuzzyamb cause it’s an opportunity to play music you don’t usually get to out and i love KWIA for providing such an inviting space to do so. i’ve heard this same statement from our featured guests so far @roza-terenzi, @ccl-url, and @gabriellekwarteng. the environment is so special, i’m in awe every time."



We’ve been blessed with a recording from one of the Queer Gods themselves, the one and only Jennifer Loveless who’s been traversing dance-floors and homes across the globe for decades, but finally made the Melbourne to Berlin pipeline relocation just last year. 

This recording is taken from Fuzzy, the lesbian ambient night happening at Kwia semi-regularly and who JLO @jenniferloveless is one of the co-mummas of. This mix once again highlights her versatility and ability to encompass a full spectrum of emotions in her sets. A softer, more sentimental side of her lesser seen than her usual all-commanding, club-music dance floor sets, it’s a rollercoaster that is as beautiful as it is deep and driving.

For the next few weeks, we'll be kicking off the Hot Mass podcast series with sets from all of our residents, starting with recordings from the recent Hot Mass x Berlin party at Ohm Berlin. @Boo-Lean, a driving force in Pittsburgh’s music and art scenes, is co-founder of the VIA festival as well as the girlFx crew.
