As @sleepd, childhood friends Maryos Syawish and Corey Kikos have greatly helped shape Melbourne's underground scene over the last decade. Between them, they have Iraqi and Maltese heritage and put out music on the likes of Incienso, Play On and Cocktail d'Amore Music as well as their own blog/party/label Butter Sessions. Like their expressive live show, it explores "the rave unconscious" so think everything from dreamy pads to driving rhythms, gritty electro to cosmic techno. 

This week's podcast is a superb showcase of their style: a mix that is constantly on the move, building momentum as rhythms go from elastic and bouncy to more driving and sleek. Percussion is perfectly sprinkled in to give extra texture, while nebulous synths add the colour as the pressure builds and builds. This is physical, psychedelic, emotional, trance-inducing electronic music that follows the familiar arc of a well-executed mix but in all new and unfamiliar ways.

hiiiiiie! this habibi in the picture (the one on the right, i know they are lookalikes bbs that's the point)is a fearless multifaceted DJ that i've been in touch with for aaaages - we're a true soundcloud classic for each other - plus she's bringing back and validating cute aethetics paired with defiant dance music through her hamam nights which.. YES. we both have a knack for mutating menacing synths and oneiric rave vibrations, and that's very clearly present once again in this beautiful mix she recorded for the naivetape series. We're so happy and honoured to have this queen <3 and the timing is perf as we're meeting IRL for the first time this weekend YAYYY

Now here's a fun treat designed to spice up your Friday, Ludwig A.F. Röhrscheid is a producer and DJ with a wonderful care free approach to electronic music.

He makes incredibly tasteful tracks, often with a distinctive personality which can be hard to find in an overly saturated market. There are nods to prominent 90's influences dotted throughout his music and they're usually always playful. So far he has released music most prominently through his own EXO Recordings label, however he has also appeared on Unknown To The Unknown. 

Ludwig is one of the only people known to have played ATB's 'Til I Come' during a Boiler Room session and for that we very much salute him. Who knows what the hell this mix holds in store but we bet it's bloody brilliant.

Influences: I have always been obsessed with the ‘sense of beauty’, I have always poked around and chose what I identified as beautiful and interesting for me. I always try to choose what excites me and putting together many tracks that excite me and fully represent me. Musical influences come mainly from the progressive house music of the 90s of which I’m literally a lover, the same love I feel for fashion, looking into the details is my strong point.

Affiliations/Residences/Projects: I run my own party 'The Naked Dance', an interesting project that carry on a message of unity and love, I’m also resident at Lattex Plus events in Florence in which I have the opportunity to experiment and perform with great artists of the electronic music scene. My short-term goal is to mix my passion for fashion with music and turn this into something that I will discover (I'm not sure what it will be yet). I am collaborating with interesting Italian fashion brands such as Vivetta, Reamerei and Sunnei because they are closest to my way of being.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: My advice is always to be yourself. To follow your feelings and pursue all your ideas. You are never alone, there is always someone who appreciates you for who you are.
