So, this is my 1st set on a digital set-up in quite some time. I sold my deck to upgrade and have been waiting for the release. Hey guys, thanks for checking in with me. "It's Friday Somewhere" was recorded on a Thursday, that was being treated like a Friday, at least where I was. Part I of this set starts a little "off-vibe" from where my music usually lands. I was running through the new and new-to-me tracks I had left over from the "Getting Digital with It" set. I was freestyling and wilding when I got into Part II. Things definitely start out a little slow, and then ramp up at the end. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Your support means a lot. It's Friday Somewhere - Part II

I was fortunate enough to get invited to play at Mike Diesel's Birthday Bash in St. Pete Florida, on February 2nd, 2025. My set time was 4AM, not ideal for those of us who aren't night owls. So, I decided to recreate the set. With an hour to play so much good music, I had to move through the tracks quicker than I like to. Most of the music is new music. I started the set off with a late 90's classic, from Spacemen, Communion. From there it is all new releases which fall mostly in the electro category. We start off about 135 BPMs and then move down to about 130 BPMs. Thanks to Mike Diesel for giving me the chance to play live, thanks to Lance and The Gang, the staff at the Warehouse for tolerating an Electro set as well.  I had fun playing, even though I did get 2, on-stage requests, while I was playing!! One for Daft Punk, the other for Tiesto!! Umm, the nerve. LOL.

Mike Diesel's Birthday

So, when I started playing this set, I wasn't sure how long I'd make it, or what would happen. I didn't actually feel like playing. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't, right? Well, I'm glad I did, because after making myself stand behind the gear, ~3-hours later this is what I came away with. I guess you could say, "I Went off on One!!" 

These are mostly new tracks. A few maybe older, but they are new to me. I had about 55 tracks I hadn't played. I intended on playing the electro tracks separately from the breaks tracks, but once I got started, I kinda just went with the flow, and created a journey. 

Typically, I will start with higher or lower BPM's and work my way up, or down, and finish. This time I started about 124 BPM, worked my way up to about 138 BPM, and then back down to about 130 BPM. This was my 1st time through all of these tracks, so the mixes aren't perfect, but they are good enough to put out there for you guys to hear. 

I spend a lot, and I mean A LOT, of time digging for music. I love it when I find the hidden nuggets that no one else had the patience to dig for. The thrill of the hunt, if you will. This particular journey has a little bit of everything in it. There's some "vibey breaks" with some of the best female vocals. And then there's some filthy ass electro with some of the funkiest basslines you could hope for. I had a lot of fun dropping the beats. I hope you have as much fun listening, as I did playing.

Went off on One

I've been spending a lot time in my music library. I mentioned before that I do a lot of digging for tracks, staying current, as best as I can, with the new tracks being released. As my library gets more and more robust, I find it harder and harder to keep up with the "older" music. To help alleviate this, I've gotten more detail-oriented and critical with my categorizing and "tagging" of tracks. One of the best tricks I figured out to do was creating "intelligent playlists". I can create a playlist of songs within my library from any myriad of parameters. Whatever I can think of to "label" a song, I will. This helps me when I am playing to find music of the same vibe and feel. Well, one of the intelligent playlists I created was "DJ play count 0-1". Wow!! over 2,000 songs that I've played either 0 times, or 1 time. To be fair to myself, the 0 play count songs aren't counting the times I played them on Serato. But, I made the switch to Rekordbox over 3 years ago now. So, a lot of these tunes needed to be "dusted off" if you will. 

Anyway, as always, thanks for listening and being a part of the journey with me. My mixes aren't perfect. I get told all the time to stop putting so much pressure on myself to always put out the perfectly mixed set. My sets are never pre-planned, and when you play for hours on end like that, you are bound to have an imperfect mix here or there. The Road Less Traveled

So, the title says it. It's been a while since I've posted a new set. This set comprises new and mostly new tracks. This set is not perfect. I struggle with putting out sets, which IMO are not worthy. But, I have people in my ear telling me it's okay, live music sets are never perfect. And, they are right. I've been trying to implement some advanced mixing techniques recently. You may hear a few of them in this set. Even when I'm not posting sets, I continue to dig for and find new music. IMO, there has been quite a bit of decent music released recently. If you want to find the hidden gems, you must put in the time digging through the mounds and mounds of released music daily. Been a Minute

I was fortunate enough to get invited back to, what in my opinion, is one of if not the best parties of the year. The Essential Freaks invited me to play the silent disco of Season 4. I am thankful for the opportunity to play anywhere outside of my home, so I agreed. My set time was 7 AM on Saturday morning. Not the most ideal time for others to get a chance to hear what you have to play. With that in mind, I decided to recreate my Season 4 set, and share it here, with you guys, my loyal followers. Considering the time of the set, I wanted to bring an uplifting and loving vibe to the mix. I did not create a preset playlist, I rarely do. I like to play from the heart, and soul, and just see where things take me. I've put a selection of tracks together, that in my mind, and soul, just make you feel good! I feel like I succeeded in my quest to drop an early morning set that helped people start, or end their day, on a good note(pun totally intended). Season 4 - Vibey Silent Disco

Okay, so I just bought a massive pile of new, and new to me, tunes. Over 115 tracks, to be exact. My music library undergoes a massive amount of editing, categorizing, and sorting before I even play it. As you can imagine, especially if you spend time digging for music of your own, I was excited to play them. Well, we were having friends over for the Holiday weekend, and everyone and their uncle plays music now. As the host, I knew I wasn't going to get much of a chance to play, so I decided to hop on the night before, and this is what came from it. The name says it all, "It's My Turn!" to play. The result is this ~90-minute set with what I think is a great selection of music in it. I've been meaning to explain my sets a little more in detail. So, most of my sets are recorded after I get new music. After sorting thru them, I usually start playing them in some random order and most of the time end up playing them all in one set. I do this mostly for myself, so I can listen to my music library and learn it better. The problem with this strategy, though, to me at least, is that sometimes I end up playing some super vibey, female vocal tracks with some of that filthy dark electro I love so much. With that said, I'm trying to make more of an effort to include music that fits within, or close to within the same vibe in sets, and instead of playing all the vibes in one set, maybe create two or more, with the same "type" of music vibe. I don't know if it's right or wrong. Sometimes I start playing, and the journey begins, and who knows where I end up. Which, to me, is the most fun part of it all. It's My Turn!

I've been spending a lot of time working on my music library. Currently, my library has just over 6,000 tracks. Granted, I don't play from all 6,000 each time I step behind the gear, but knowing what songs to include to select from as you play is critically important to me. With that said, I've been spending a ton of time cleaning up, and organizing my library. I use colors for energy, star ratings for likability, and a lot of tags. The tags are words and phrases that help me sort songs into "carts" or folders. To get this completed on my entire library is a massive undertaking, and I'm nowhere near complete. But, I have gone through quite a few, and anything newer has been sorted to my new standard. This allows me to follow energy levels, vibes, and feels for sets. I'm not much for preplanned sets. I usually know where I am going to start, and just ride the vibe from there. This set is my 1st set since I've completed a massive update to my library. I played a couple of different genres in this set, and it was fun. This is my 1st time genre-bending. I have more that I could say on this topic, but this is getting too long-winded. Social Tonic

My good friend, DJ Global, decided he was going to start throwing parties at his warehouse. He asked me if I wanted to help. Never one to miss the opportunity to be a part of something awesome, or throw a party, I said hell yes. This is the 2nd time we've had a party at said warehouse, and the 1st time we decided to record the sets. My timeslot was 12 AM, and Global played before me. Because I followed him, and it was 12 AM, I had to go a little harder than I usually do. Typically, I will ride around 128-132 BPM. This set rides ~132-138 BPM. I had fun playing the set, but as always, I wasn't sure how it sounded to the listener. After listening to it I found myself pleasantly surprised. It was a fun set to play, and even more fun to listen to. I hope you find it as much fun as I did. Warehouse V.2 - DiscoDave

This is a very special set for all my loyal listeners to indulge in and enjoy. We were fortunate enough to have a very special guest in the house the night of our Warehouse V.2 Party. The one, the only, Axel V, or as I call him, "The Legendary Nostalgic Breaks Remixer" popped in, and he didn't hold back. Breaker's Ball

Just someone who has a love for Breaks (almost all breaks but specifically Florida and Louisiana Breaks and Vocal Breaks)...Electro...Trance...Drum&Bass...Dub (the original Dub that was around the Tampa scene from the 90's and early 2000's...not the new Dub that these kids think is the shit)...Trip-Hop...E-Hop...and a few others. Was HEAVILY involved (to put it lightly...no pun intended but pun intended) in the Tampa/Orlando scene from the late 80's thru around 2007 or so...until the scene changed or was forced to change...but this shit is in my blood!!! I guess like they say...Blood in...Blood out!!! Had an iconic and well known house in South Tampa that was called "The House On Stilts"...it was the only house in the subdivision that was up on stilts like a beach house. And if you were in the scene...odds are you've swung thru at some point for one or more of the parties...Lol!!! If so...hit me up and tell me about it...I love hearing the stories because MAN O' FUCKING MAN...THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!! Best times of my life...and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat...I mean breakbeat!!!
