Born and raised in NYC, Poetic Note grew up enamored with the soulful hum of jazz and the rebellious pulse of rock ‘n’ roll. She learned early how rhythm could speak when words couldn’t. In 2022, a chance encounter with a Jackin’ house set at a park party reignited a long-held passion, inspiring her to step behind the decks and bring her energy to the dance floor.

Poetic Note is built from contrast, and you hear it in every set. Her sound won’t sit still or fit neatly into a box. It’s punk at the core: visceral, hypnotic, emotional. Shaped by the chaos of nature and the weight of her surroundings, her style holds both brutality and softness: industrial edges wrapped in raw feminine energy.

Now rooted deep in North Carolina’s underground, Poetic Note is building something real. A familiar presence in the Triangle, Poetic Note co-hosts Kinetic Audio events, cultivating experiences that celebrate the essence of underground music. With a sharp sense for motion and feeling, she continues to nurture the region’s dance scene.

Matt Altman is a boundary-pushing techno DJ and producer who has solidified his place in the global underground music scene. As the founder of ALT RECORDS, he is continuously shaping the sound of modern techno while championing emerging talent.

With a foundation in drums and formal education in rhythm, Matt brings a distinctive percussive energy to his productions and performances. His tracks pulse with primal intensity, blending intricate drum patterns with hypnotic grooves and relentless basslines. This unique sound has earned him releases on prestigious labels such as Evil Groove Records, E-HRZN, and Trau-ma, making him a respected name in the techno community.

On stage, Matt is a force to be reckoned with. From electrifying sets at iconic New York City venues like Output, Cielo, and Bossa Nova Civic Club to his unforgettable performance at EDC New York in 2015, he has consistently delivered immersive, high-energy experiences. In September 2024, he brought his dynamic sound to Denver, playing for the renowned Unseen Crew, further expanding his reach in the underground scene. Beyond live events, he has captivated a global audience with two acclaimed live streams at Analog Vice Studios in Bogotá, Colombia.

Through ALT RECORDS, Matt has built a platform to amplify cutting-edge techno and push the genre into uncharted territories. With a relentless passion for innovation, he continues to redefine his craft, making every release and performance a bold statement of artistic vision.

Her recent debut track on the Brooklyn-based label IMPULSE CØNTROL captures that same driving spirit, marking the next step in her evolving artist journey.

As the Creative Director for IMPULSE CØNTROL, Michelle Kay also plays a pivotal role in curating the collective’s discography and cultivating intimate, immersive parties and workshops across cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, and New York. Her work behind the scenes is as intentional as her performances, shaping the label’s creative direction with a sharp ear and a deep sense of community.
