Started this one in a deeper headspace and let it unfold naturally.

The first stretch leans into melodic progression and atmosphere — giving the mix room to breathe before tightening the groove. From there it gradually shifts, introducing acid textures, sharper percussion, and more defined forward motion.

The back half is where it fully steps into Club Alchemy — controlled pressure, driving energy, and a focused peak without losing musicality.

Closed it with intention, easing out of the intensity while keeping the emotional thread intact.

If you like progressive that evolves into something heavier without losing its identity, this one sits right in that pocket.

This one lives fully inside the Basement 13 zone.

Built with intention from the first track, it opens in a controlled, hypnotic space — minimal, focused, and patient. The early section keeps things restrained, letting the groove establish without forcing energy too soon.

As it progresses, the structure tightens and the pressure builds. Percussion sharpens, low-end weight increases, and the mix transitions from hypnotic to driving without losing control.

The back half is where it fully locks in — industrial textures, faster transitions, and sustained momentum. No breaks in energy, no unnecessary resets — just continuous forward motion.

The final stretch pushes into full warehouse intensity, closing with raw, uncompromising power.

TOMY’s musical roots stretch from 80s new wave and post-punk through 90s rave culture and into today’s underground electronic movement.

Influenced by artists ranging from synth pioneers and progressive rock architects to modern techno innovators, his sets explore the connective threads that run through decades of rhythm and sound.

Inside the Club Alchemy project, each mix inhabits a different “room” — environments representing distinct states of electronic music: melodic progression, hypnotic techno pressure, and deep atmospheric journeys.

Every session is crafted inside the studio space known as Connectome, where musical memories, influences, and new discoveries intersect.

- Seeds and Dreams sprouting in Darkness 🖤 - 

Born in 1978 in Germany, Roul Bauer—better known as Vicious Steam Engine—discovered his passion for techno during the explosive rave movement of the 1990s in Switzerland and Germany. Deeply inspired by the driving rhythms and hypnotic energy of the scene, he carried that passion forward until it fully ignited during the COVID-19 lockdown in August 2020. It was then that his desire to create his own sonic journeys came to life.

A year later, he began producing his own techno tracks and honed his mixing skills through a DJ/mixing workshop with Mixmasters.ch. To sharpen his craft and connect with the underground community, he launched his own podcast on SoundCloud: Hot Pressure Stream. Originally started as a training ground, the podcast quickly gained momentum, attracting a growing audience and guest DJs such as Anne Rosko, Isca Nublar, 909RIOT, Traumtherapie, DJ E-Viction, Tchie, Andy Pirie, Techno X-Citement, DJ Capelli, X-Dream, and Nao Tamura.

Vicious Steam Engine has made guest appearances on several respected underground techno podcasts, including TECNO OSCURO (2 DJ sets), A Darker Wave, Techno Topic by Andy Pirie, and RTDFRAVERRADIO (Brooklyn, NY). He has also been featured on Capelli’s Outta Freak’in Control Podcast, an episodic series that showcases cutting-edge underground talent and airs on RTDFRAVERRADIO.com. His recent guest sets placed him alongside legendary and rising artists such as Frankie Bones, Lenny Dee, Jim Solis, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Rewilder, Chris Liberator, DJ Papa Smrf, Jay Maniakal, DJ Capelli, DJ Hooraa, Bösetecha, Destro187, and Belaroc.

On November 28, 2021, Vicious Steam Engine released his debut EP Dark Dance of Gratitude on TECNO OSCURO, followed by the Kill the Silence EP on April 18, 2022.

Since 2023, he has taken a deep dive into music production, attending two techno retreats hosted by Mixmasters.net in Ibiza. There, he studied with industry legends such as Funk D’Void, Patrik Berg, Harvey McKay, Wehbba, and Josh Wink. He is currently advancing his production skills through an online course in electronic music at Sinee Institute, led by Björn Torwellen, while also mastering the Ableton Push 2.

With relentless dedication to evolving his sound, Vicious Steam Engine continues to build momentum and forge his path in the global techno scene.
