Unmasked launches Theoria, a new interview series focusing on vinyl labels. As first guest, we are pleased to present you Fleisch records.🩸
In the past seven years, Fleisch has become synonymous with raw body music, since its infamous debut with the release of Schwefelgelb's 'Wie Die Finger Durch Den Nebel. Born from a collective in 2014, the label has evolved throughout the years, without losing its very peculiar identity born from friendship and the imprint of like-minded individuals.

Discover this and a lot more in this interview with Alison Lewis aka Zanias, one of the two original founders of the label. She also put together an eclectic mix for us, where she played just tracks released on Fleisch for a real deep dive into the aesthetics and unique identity of the label.

Second for the day was Berlin Bunny, a DJ, producer and event organiser based in Berlin who has performed in venues such as KANTINE am Berghain, Tresor, KIT KAT, Elektrowerkz and Amsterdam Dance Event.

PREMIERE: Zaatar - Mortal Come Back [ DISCHI ]

@voxsinistra explore la musique électronique sombre et underground avec des inspirations rétro et modernes. Dans son travail en tant que DJ, elle a cultivé une communauté autour des genres EBM, Techno Body Music, Industriel, New Beat, Minimal, Cold Wave, Électro et Techno avant-gardistes. Elle a également exploré la musique synthétique des années 80, comme l'Italo disco, l'acid house, le synth-pop, la new wave et bien d'autres. Avec un passé dans le post-punk, la no wave et les mouvements alternatifs et DIY punk, elle combine des sons avec un esprit rebelle, des mélodies nostalgiques et des mélanges de genres qui stimulent les corps en mouvement pour une expérience cathartique de musique de danse intense.

Elle est actuellement animatrice de la soirée club et du label @strict_tempo ou elle programme une sélection internationale d'artistes électroniques. Vox est également connue pour son émission de radio post-punk/'80s wave Secret Meaning of Things sur KHUH 104.9 FM depuis 2011, nominée pour le prix de la meilleure émission musicale alternative aux Mixcloud Radio Awards en 2018. Elle a été mise en avant dans la série "One to Watch" de Mixcloud et ses mixes ont atteint la première place des classements de Mixcloud dans plus de 20 genres différents. 

Elle a aussi été chroniqueuse musicale pour The Stranger, le journal alternatif primé du Pulitzer de Seattle, de 2011 à 2019, et est actuellement contributrice pour Post-Punk.com. Vers 2017, elle a été inspirée à mélanger ses sons underground des années 80 avec de la techno et de l'électro et se concentre désormais sur la création de sets pour des pistes de danse sombres et labyrinthiques.

With Fresh Air Records, OX7GEN brings you an artist forward label, providing an incubator for the freshest sounds from the country & beyond. 'Stomp Nouveau' (New Dance) is a perfect sampler of what the label is all about.

First up on is 'I/O', starting with a driving 4/4 click, killer riff and deep bass synths, this track is an instant classic, fit for the very finest festivals and dance floors of the world. OX7GEN tells us more: “‘'I/O' has been a mainstay in my sets for the last 3 years. I was saving it for something special, and I’m glad to have it out on the first release of my own label.”

Last December, OX7GEN’s Boiler Room set (due to be aired in May 2025) went down a storm. And 'Cruise Control', the second track on the EP, was one of the highlights of the set. With vocals courtesy of good friend & fellow DJ from Goa, Anushka “Not looking for nobody/ to get me in the mood/ selector got me locked in place and I just wanna cruise”, In the words of OX7GEN, ‘She basically tells the world to f*ck off so she can dance in peace.”

‘Sentinels' is full of power waiting to be unleashed, but OX7GEN keeps this beast leashed and the track is all the better for it. Complex beats, layer upon layer of original synth sounds and a main keyboard line that’s dreamy yet always building at the same time. Wolves II sounds very much like a techno avatar of OX7GEN’s earlier drum & bass sound, bridging the energies of the genres, effortlessly.

OX7GEN explains more: “This EP is a special one for me as I start a new journey with the label - Fresh Air Records. The 4 tunes on this release are all quite different from each other yet have that distinct OX7GEN sound. Fresh Air Records is also very much a space for me to write & release whatever I want to without pigeonholing the label into specific genres. Expect quirky, fierce & emotive music across the spectrum.”
