Here is the ninth chapter of our podcast series, a new story told by @dj-heartbreak-berlin, committed record digger and music journalist based in Berlin.

For this episode, he wanted to refer to the classic tape format, therefore he imagined a two-sided mix. This meticulous blend of selected findings and oddities, features both the gloomy vibes and the hypnotic grooves that define Futurepast for him.

The first part takes you from the chilly shores of white noise and dramatic strings to the more electric and rhythmic lands of IDM and electronica. The second part is a progressive buildup of dub atmospheres and experimental beats, all finely sewed together to transport you in an alternative time.

Trying my best to re address the balance with the multi genre flavours in these episodes of The Outta Limits. Organic with a tinge of melancholic wistfulness, Sau Poler’s (@sau-poler) music feels bright and obscure, modern and intimate, mental and hypnotic. Grooving basslines, shuffling beats, and taut samples coalesce around a unified sound that melds leftfield, house, ambient or techno into a fluid and distinct feeling, one that also imparts a nostalgic twinge and uncanny but reassuring sense of déjà vu. He started out producing instrumental hip hop, downtempo and abstract beats, and since 2013 he has released several EPs on Atomnation (@atomnation), Cin Cin (@cin-cin-303122974), Mule Musiq (@mulemusiq) or Modern Obscure Music (@modern-obscure-music) as well as remixing an incredible plethora of artists. Last year he released his debut LP ‘Nocturno’ on Atomnation, and also premiered his brand new live show in Sónar CCCB edition at the end of 2021.

We can barely contain ourselves as we finally reveal this truly very special chapter of our Podcast Series to you today, conjured up by none other than our very dear friend and the mastermind visionary behind our visual identity, Marco Maldarella 🌸

Marco is a multimedia artist and sound-maker living and working in Bologna. When we were just starting to develop Introspective Electronics, it made sense to reach out to him and see if we could together materialise the vision we had for this new platform. Little did we know that Marco’s contribution would be so symbiotic with the music and become such a fundamental part of who we are now. And we are so grateful it turned out this way 💛 

Apart from his work with visual media, Marco is a DJ and one half of the experimental electronic duo MARMO with Christian Duka. We were lucky to be able to release a powerful podcast by the pair last year which has since been remodeled into an LP soon out via the London-based Utter. Look out for this one!

This mesmerising one hour journey seems to take its roots in the haze of days long past, a fragile trembling presence slowly emerging from the soils to meet the sun and mankind. Then ~ in patient harmony its stems and branches grow through time and finally take shape as indigenous music with diverse brushstrokes of modernity weaved in. A seamless flow of emotions rushing from and through and into is the anchor of this mystery-soaked pilgrimage ✨ 🌚🌝✨
