JJ ROX is one of those rare and wondrous performers that find their way into music every decade or so. We are blessed. For she is real; she is beautiful; a voice that exudes soul; the mind to write infectious songs and hands that play some mean guitar like some unorthodox lovechild of Prince Rogers Nelson and Jimi Hendrix.

If you want to know where the future of pop music lies then look no further than JJ ROX, a remarkable talent who exuberates all the confidence and ability of an artist who may well of been signed to Chess Records in the 60s like Howlin Wolf or Eatha Kitt, but manages to extoll the virtues of great female Rnb/pop sometimes stumbled on by the likes of a Lauryn Hill.

Originally from Manchester, but now based in London, JJ’s affair with music started playing piano and singing 'Happy Day' in her theatre school choir at the age of seven. Then several years later JJ found her love for electric guitar when she discovered, via her dad's vinyl collection, the guitar god himself Jimi Hendrix, her addiction to guitar began here.

That early talent slowly but surely blossomed to the point where Manchester legends Rowetta and Clint Boon, and Fleetwood Mac icon, Christine McVie are all singing JJ’s praises and now more recently Lauren Laverne, Labrinth, Jack Savoretti and Youngr are also amongst JJ’s ever growing fanbase!

JJ has been getting herself a great name on the live festival circuit having opened for Stevie Wonder and performed at BTS at Hyde Park, US Ambassadors Party in Regents Park, The Great Escape, Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, Festival No.6 the list goes on and is only getting bigger and better each year! She’s also performed in New York, around Europe, and played at Fender’s 60th Stratocaster Anniversary of whom she is a worthy ambassador, including participating in many up and coming Fender guitar campaigns.

It's clear that JJ R0X, now trying her hand at production, is creating a pretty unique cocktail that’s full of punchy grooves and drenched in attitude, raw emotion and drive befitting that of a new music icon. Her songs are catchy as hell and will no doubt be tearing up the charts in no time. 

Backed by a stellar live band JJ is gearing up for her first commercial release spear headed by the single “Pandora”, produced by Troy Miller (more recently known for his work with Calvin Harris and Rag n’ Bone Man on the chart topping single ‘Giant’/ Amy Winehouse/ Emeli Sande + More!).

There are so few musicians that are as ambitious as JJ and have such a pedigree and potential. With the critics raving and the public already hooked, it will not be too long until the Manchester-born artist is one of the hottest names in music…

With a career spanning over four decades, that began in what many consider to be the most important and influential club of its generation, Fac 51 The Haçienda, and continues with his residency for the award winning I Love Acid club night, few of today’s DJs can boast a pedigree like Jon Dasilva. 

Considered to be Haçienda’s most singular resident DJ, Jon Dasilva was fresh to the scene in '87, finding DJ inspiration in the House and Disco DJs of deepest New York and Chicago, amidst a sea of influences, from Bowie to Dub Reggae to Kosmische Musik to Disco. His broad musical tastes and ability to work so many genres into proper dance floor action mark Dasilva out as a next level DJ. 

His greatest legacy from that period, alongside championing the early Chicago and Detroit sound, was his imaginative take on the idea of the DJ set. Not content with simply mixing one track into another, Dasilva wove a cappella and sound effects into a broad selection of House, Acid, Disco, Techno and even Brazilian Batucada, intuitively mixing in key, building a set dynamic that until then was rarely heard on UK shores.

A lesser known side of his influence was Jon’s inspired warm-up sets at the Haçienda. This was Dasilva's first experience of playing in such a major club, and realising the potential to have fun in the first hour or more of the night, he went about mixing up Dub Reggae, Latin, Disco and Post Punk oddities, interspersed with BBC sound effects. Word spread and soon these mixes would become the inspiration for another set of DJs, who later went on to form the backbone of the soon-to-emerge Balearic DJ scene, as well as artists like the The Chemical Brothers, The New Fast Automatic Daffodils, Matthew Herbert, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and many more.

Jon still retains a freshness of approach, and this can be heard in his recent DJ mixes. His penchant for the varied shades of acid, techno and house, as well as his keen nose for sniffing out the most interesting modern producers, are evident.

More recently, Dasilva has forged an ongoing relationship with the London club night, I Love Acid and the club’s promoters, Posthuman, regularly doing back-to-back DJ sets with Posthuman. I Love Acid won the Best Club Event in DJ Magazine’s ‘Best Of British’ 2019.
