[NO-AU] - ORION (ORIGINAL) v1

Le souffle court, Nereus sentait encore l’odeur métallique du laboratoire lui coller à la peau, un mélange de rouille et de peur. Les alarmes hurlaient derrière eux, un cri d’acier déchirant le silence. Siku courait à ses côtés, plus légère, presque irréelle, les yeux fixés droit devant, comme si elle voyait déjà la sortie avant même qu’elle n’existe.

Derrière eux, la voix de Vortigern éclata, rauque, saturée de colère.

Ses mots ricochèrent sur les murs comme des éclats de métal brûlant. Nereus sentit ses muscles se tendre. Cette voix, il l’avait entendue des centaines de fois, dans les couloirs, dans ses rêves, jusque dans la pulsation même de son propre cœur. C’était la voix du contrôle, la main invisible qui décidait de tout.

Chaque pas devenait un arrachement. Le couloir vibrait sous leurs pieds, les lumières grésillaient, éclataient en gerbes blanches. Nereus ne savait plus s’il fuyait pour sauver sa vie ou simplement pour échapper à ce qu’ils avaient voulu faire de lui. Le laboratoire n’était plus qu’une gorge de béton avalant la lumière.

"Nereus, vite !"

La voix de Siku le tira de sa torpeur.
Devant eux, la porte de confinement.
Un battement de plus, et elle se refermerait.
Ils se jetèrent en avant, unis par l’urgence, et le monde sembla s’étrangler au moment où le battant se referma derrière eux.

L’air du dehors les frappa comme une marée, froid, libre, brutal.
Le ciel, vaste et troublé, s’ouvrait enfin.

Au loin, derrière les murs du laboratoire, Vortigern cria encore, une dernière fois.
Un cri si chargé de rage et de désespoir qu’il sembla fendre la nuit elle-même.

Alors Nereus comprit : ce n’était pas une fuite, mais une rupture.

Vortigern pouvait garder son trône et ses chaînes.
