Pete’s been collecting records and DJ’ing since the early 90’s. Along the way he’s played at parties across the UK, France, Prague and Australia with a focus on djing across the UK free party scene in the past. Standouts include being a regular at the LS8 free parties in West Yorkshire and being part of the legendary tVC sound system from Kent as well as hosting his own occasional night the ‘Friendly Affair’ which is where the nickname comes from. His music style leans towards deep dubby house grooves that nod their head at jazz, soul, and afrobeat - solid beats for the more discerning dance floor!

Matt Shrewd Artist/Producer/DJ/Label Owner (AKA Shrewd, Distant Funk, Pushing Boundaries).
Matt Shrewd, originally from the legendary Shrewd Sound System Collective, a group of like minded underground house DJs from the Midlands Uk free party/club scene.
Being massively influenced from the likes of DIY & Smokescreen sound systems back in the early 90’s Matts passion for DJing soon became apparent and he naturally progressed into the production side of the industry. 
Matt’s quirky live sounding funky bass and cheeky sampling soon had him noticed and things moved on very quickly, having numerous top releases out on some of the best underground house labels in the business, Myna, Drop, Guesthouse, Bambino, KolourRecordings, Tango, Nightshift & LingoRecordings to name a few!
With his continued success in the early 2000’s Matt then progressed into launching his own independent Vinyl labels, with the help of Primal records owner and friend Olivier Desmet, it was from here Flavor Recordings/Shrewd Music & Gooch Records were born.
Matt has just returned to producing again after a few years away after having his first release out ‘Dusty Crimes Ep’ on Odour Recordings, which received some great feedback and support from industry legends!!

DJ and Producer of Underground House Music. Started life in Nottingham in the early 90's by holding afterparties in the inner city areas of town, and outdoor raves beyond the cities limits. We founded Quadrant Sound System in summer 1995 and my career in music took off after our monthly bash 'Rebound' became a regular haunt for all sorts of clubbers from the midlands area, later hitting the top 20 club events in the UK as voted by Mixmag and featured on Radio 1. We travelled east with the Technoville Festival in 1997 and moved Rebound to Prague after a summer of partying, this helped lift an international career for me playing in some amazing cities across Europe and the U.S.

Dj Dan Cartel (Deep Cartel soundsystem/Country Gents/Deep Cartel Recordings) has 20 years experience behind the turntables. Involved in the party scene since 1990 Dan first used a set of Technics Dj`ing at a friends house party in Weston-Super-Mare in 1992.
Dan started playing at illegal raves and free parties in `94 when in his opinion "the music on the south-west scene had become too hard so something had to be done".
Dan quickly picked up a tight and original mixing style and in `97 he was invited to join the highly respected Powwow and Sunnyside sound systems. With Powwow he started a long running back-2-back dj partnership with like minded mate Robbie and under the guise of "Desperate Dan and Gobbie Robbie" they rocked many of the free parties in the south-west of England.
Dan and Robbie soon gained popularity and respect for their unique blend of solid quality house music and oldskool breaks.
They quickly earned residencies at Mr C`s in Taunton, Uzer Friendly at Club Loco (Bristol) and Off The Edge in Bournemouth.
They also played festivals, including: The Rizla Bar at Glastonbury `98 (alongside Leftfield, Digs and Woosh (DIY) and David Holmes),the Lizard festivals `97, `98, `99 and the main dance stage at the Free the Weed festivals in Brockwell park, London `99 and 2000.
In 2000 Dan moved to Exeter and helped form the now legendary Deep Cartel Soundsystem. Putting on "free parties by the people for the people", the parties were usually set in the beautiful Devon countryside with a music policy of bass-heavy, deep underground house music.
In November 2000 Deep Cartel started their own club night at Casbar in Exeter where Deep Cartel dj`s played alongside quality guest dj`s/producers like:
Simon DK (DIY), DIY Jack, Smokescreen Soundsystem, Andy Caldwell (Naked Music), Marques Wyatt (om records), Andy Compton (Peng), Ben Wijay (just muzik), Inland Knights (Drop), Mr Mulatto and Ben Vacara (BRS/Flat and Round) and Andy Kinky (Tango).
Since then Deep Cartel have continued to forward the underground house scene with their own club nights, festival appearances, guest slots and of course the free parties have gone from strength to strength. Quality House DJ's travel the length and breadth of the country to have a spin and the vibe has been electric.
Dan has guested at many of the UK's best underground house nights including...D.I.Y (Nottingham), Babble(Leicester), Kinky Movement (Nottingham), Dizzy Funk (Peterborough), Fruity Antics (Bristol), Shrewd (Lincoln), Duvet-Vous? (Bristol), Chocolate Jam (Bath), Turquoise (Totnes) and Guarana (Ibiza).
A dedicated festival goer, Dan can often be found playing on stage or in back stage bars or anonymous festival DJ tents. Recently Dan has played at the Glade Festival `04 in "The Whore's Legs" backstage bar, Air Fusion festival, Shambala festival and on the Avalon stage and Lulu`s bar at Glastonbury `03 and `04.
Since then Dan has played at numerous festivals including Bestival, Shambala main dance dome, Ugfest, BGG, Waveform and sunrise. In 2007 Dan organised the House Marquee at the 7th sun festival.
In early 2010 as Deep Cartel celebrate their 10th anniversary Dan set up a new label "Deep Cartel Recordings" with fellow DC dj Lee Jones. This dj/production duo are known as "Country Gents" and have numerous releases on DCR, Manuscript, Jonny Loves House, Black No Sugar, Soiree, Pear Music and have a forthcoming release on Mobiletrax. 2011 has been a busy year on the festival scene with gigs at Love4Life (DiY/Black Box), Glastonbury's fantastic "Slumbarave" (Oldskool Houses set) and Quality Tom's Shangri-La crew bar, Magic Weekend, Spaceport Terminal, Aeon Festival and Headstock (DiY/Smokescreen tent).... On the club-scene in 2011 Dan has played at Duvet-Vous?, the re-opening of the legendary Verbeer Manor and Lakota. Look out for a new Deep Cartel club night coming soon!

Being born and raised in the underground house free party scene in the early 2000’s, I attended free parties before I could even walk. Numerous in fact. Probably not an ideal setting for a child, but made me who I am today. Nothings changed, us at Wireless still continue to host free parties in and around Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire… despite a slight hiatus.
Also took part in Smokescreen Soundsystem’s 30th Tour which I am extremely proud and grateful of.

Where do I begin? I have always been an artist by nature. However, I did not realize what my dream job was until the first time I heard Larry Levan play at the Garage. He created theater and took you on a journey that allowed you to escape for a few magical hours. I knew then what I wanted to do with my life...make music and play music. When I began to DJ it was because I wanted to connect to everyone. I wanted music to bring us together and allow us to share that light that exists in all of us. So I worked hard and built a career for myself that I could have never imagined. I’ve played in the best clubs all over the world. Worked with the biggest and most talented artists in the world. I’ve truly been blessed.
