This afternoon I found myself wondering why I compose, and perhaps more specifically why I put my creations "out there".  I felt a little lost.  So I sat down at the piano, determined to reconnect with the little girl that I once was.  A little girl who used to call for her school friend....just because that friend happened to have a piano.  A little girl who sat and "played" that piano for many hours, without any real idea of what she was doing.  Just enjoying putting her hands on the keys and making patterns with sound.

The result is this little piece called "Why" and it is pretty much what I guess you would call an impromptu.  Composed in a short amount of time with minimal refinement.  It was important in this case not to self scrutinise or ask for external opinion.  Just create, enjoy........and share.

Algorithmic - Armageddon Blues

Nothing like a pesky raccoon to stir things up a bit… Oh, hello. Glad you dropped by. A raccoon, I named Bandit, has taken up a vacation residence under the shed here. It’s right next to the raspberry patch and apple trees. A couple nights ago, Bandit snuck into my small greenhouse, where I grow tomatoes and peppers, and made a salad of the pepper plants, munching one plant completely down to the stalk. Bandit also likes the heavy crop of choke cherries here. He also uses the back corner of the vegetable garden as a latrine, which last summer was up on the house roof. I’d awaken with a start to hear little footsteps running across the roof. Luckily no roof excursions this year. Anyway, this is a Blues song with some solo banjo. Lyrically, it has a couple of reflections about life, mortality, gardening, relationships and partner expectations, letting go of life dreams, a nod to Bandit, the wacky weather, and making peace with old age. And of course, there’s a fair amount of daydreaming going on, while plucking banjo. Hope all is going reasonably well with you, wherever you are on Earth, during this whirlwind tour we’re on. Mark

Another awesome electronic collaboration with David a.k.a. @blackmarketbrains ! I love his minimal techno beats so asked him to send me one that included one of his cool old movie samples.I was inspired right away to lay down some melodic loops and even a bit of guitar.

I'm taking a break after '21, to home'. Life is demanding a little attention from me. I'll continue to work on songs, but I'll be able to finish them much more slowly.

I quit my secondary job not long ago, so i guess this is my secondary job now. (?)

I'm an independent musician exploring different genres and styles that resonate with me. I play drums, guitar, bass and keyboards, and I’m always looking to grow.

These days I focus on the Lofi - Chillhop style. Not constantly, but I try to push its boundaries a bit, e.g. with unconventional time signatures (7/8, 5/4, etc.).

My philosophy in music is simple:
If we don’t lift each other up, who will? The industry won’t. So let’s support and inspire one another. If you have the power to help, use it—otherwise, what’s the point?

...oh, I've never used or will use AI for my music.
