Not far from where gold was first discovered in the Sierra Foothills, a band calling itself Knuf has emerged with similarly auspicious tidings. When this quartet hits the stage, they attack each moment with laser-focused intensity. Their influences from jambands like Phish and Grateful Dead are evident, yet they are committed to applying their own strokes to the canvas. Everything is funky as can be with a vibrant coat of creativity bringing it into the fourth dimension. This show has been rescheduled multiple times during the pandemic and it will be glorious to see it finally go down.
  There is no shortage of bands that can jam, but Knuf sets itself apart with a remarkable vocal presence led by guitarist Matt Gillies. The man is oozing with soul and swagger. He can suddenly shift into Motown mode and leave you with your jaw on the floor. They also have a solid foundation of original material sprinkled amidst the fantastic array of covers. Tasty improv jams are led by liquid guitar, saxophone and propelled by a forceful rhythm section. If only dancing was always this easy.

The Strypes are 4-piece rhythm and blues band hailing from Cavan, Ireland, formed in 2011 by Ross Farrelly (lead vocals/harmonica), Josh McClorey (lead guitar/vocals), Pete O'Hanlon (bass guitar/harmonica) and Evan Walsh (drums).

The group has spent the past 18 months launching their explosive R&B assault on the clubs and festivals of Ireland, the UK and Europe, viciously hammering out a no-nonsense blues repertoire drawing from the songbooks of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Slim Harpo and more with the passion and venom of British blues groups such as Dr. Feelgood, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones and The Animals. 

Having already been met with critical acclaim from greats such as Jeff Beck and Paul Weller and been tipped by NME as the No. 1 new band to watch, it seems things can only get better for The Strypes.
